Backup and Recovery

Document projects are backed up at three levels within a Microsoft Azure environment.

Daily backups

Two full daily backups (day 1 and day 2) are taken and retained. On day 3, the day 1 backup is overwritten, and on day 4, the day 2 backup is overwritten.

These backups are used to recover from any user or operator errors.

Daily, weekly, monthly, and annual virtual machine and disk snapshots

Every day, a complete virtual machine and Azure disk backup for the servers that host Document and projects is taken and kept in the Azure Recovery Services Vault. This backup is retained for seven days.

Similar backups are taken every week (retained for five weeks), every month (retained for 12 months), and annually (retained for 10 years or as required).

These backups can be restored to recover any point-in-time data or to address localized failures in combination with the warm standby environment backup.
