This video will guide you through creating dynamic markups and adding markups to the favorites toolbar in the PDF viewer.
To begin, open the document you'd like to markup.
Chapter: Dynamic Markups
Dynamic markups allow you to insert automatically updated information—such as usernames or dates—into any text-based markup. Start by selecting the text-based markup type you want to use. Adjust any details or formatting of the markup as needed.
When you're ready, right‑click the markup and choose Add to Tool Chest. Give your markup a name, select a category, and choose who can use it: just you, your company, or anyone on the project.
Chapter: Building Your Markup
Now it's time to build the markup. In the text field, enter any static text you want to appear every time the markup is used. Click the plus symbol to add that text to the markup. You'll see a preview showing how your markup is beginning to take shape.
Next, open the drop‑down menu and select the first dynamic field you'd like to include. Since this markup indicates that you've reviewed the document, you might add your username. Because this field is dynamic, anyone else using the markup will see their username displayed. Select the field, then click Plus to add it. You'll now see the dynamic field alongside your static text.
Next, let's add today's date. Enter the static label text on a new line and click Plus. Then choose the Current Date field from the drop‑down. Select the date format you want, then click Plus to add it. Check the preview to see how your markup is coming together. Once you're satisfied with the details, click OK.
Your new dynamic markup is now saved in the tool chest. When you use the markup, all dynamic fields will automatically populate.
Chapter: Adding Markups to Favorites Toolbar
If you plan to use this markup—or any other markup type—frequently, you can add it to the Favorites toolbar for quick access.
To do this, open the Favorites tab and select Manage Favorites. On the left, you'll see all available markup types; on the right, you'll see the markups currently on the Favorites toolbar. To stay organized, start by creating a group.
Then, from the list of available markups, check the box beside the markup you want and click the arrow to move it into the Favorites toolbar. Drag and drop the markup into the correct group. You can use the arrows to rearrange groups as needed. Continue adding and grouping as many markup types as you like.
When you're finished, click Save. Your updated favorites will now appear in the toolbar, ready to be selected and applied to your document.
Well, that’s a quick overview of how to create dynamic markups and add markups to the Favorites toolbar in the PDF viewer. Thanks for watching.
