Video - InEight Document enhanced
- Author or Edit Documents with Microsoft Office Online

TRANSCRIPT

In this video, we'll walk through how to author or edit documents with Microsoft Office Online in InEight Document. With this feature, any Microsoft Office–supported file can be opened and edited in Office Online without first downloading it from InEight Document.

Chapter: Enabling Microsoft Office Integration

Before using the feature, you'll need to ensure that the Microsoft Office integration is enabled. To enable it, open the address book and locate your company. Go into the company details and select the External Integrations tab. If you do not see this tab, please contact InEight support or your project’s InEight representative.

On the External Integrations tab, make sure the Document Authoring checkbox is selected. Click Activate. You’ll then be prompted to log in using the Microsoft 365 service account created for your organization. Once setup is successful, you'll see a confirmation message.

Chapter: Editing Documents in Office Online

With the integration enabled, you can now author or edit documents directly from the register. To do this, open the document register and find the document you want to add a file to or update an existing file for. Select the document, click Actions, then choose Open in Office Online. The file will open in Office Online, where you can edit it just like any other Office document.

Chapter: Tracking Changes and Updates

After closing the file and returning to InEight Document, the register will display a column showing whether any Office Online changes have been made that still need to be published. This provides a quick way to identify documents with pending updates. If you open the document detail screen, you can see who made the changes, when they were made, and which file formats were updated. This is especially useful when you work with multiple file types for the same document.

Chapter: Publishing Document Revisions

When you're ready to publish the updated file to the register, click Publish Changes and choose Publish Revision. If version control is enabled on your project, you can select Publish Version instead. Once published, the register will update, and the awaiting publishing indicator will be cleared.

Well, that's a quick overview on how to author and edit documents with Microsoft Office Online in InEight Document. Thanks for watching.
