Associate Issue in Control
Use Case
The superintendent informs the project controls manager of the issue for additional steel work. The project controls manager notes that the steel work is represented by an existing cost item, so she adds a reference to the issue on this existing cost item. This reference will help the project management team keep tabs on the issue as they review the budget and forecast.
In InEight Control, you can reference issues from InEight Change to cost items in your CBS.
Once an issue is drafted, a best practice is to associate it to the appropriate cost item in Control early in the process. Issues can be associated before pricing is estimated or a change order is proposed. Issues can also be associated to multiple cost items if needed. For example, an issue might be associated to an existing cost item which corresponds to the work that needs to be done, as well as to a newly created cost item for materials. This increases visibility and allows the Project Controls Manager/Project Manager to quickly see which items have issues against them.
Follow the steps below to associate an issue to a cost item.
