Complete Update Cycle and Report to Stakeholders
Use Case
With schedule progress completed for the period, the scheduler moves the data date to align with the most recent updates. He makes a copy of the schedule and sends the updated schedule to the client and other stakeholders for review.
This section covers how to close out the update cycle by moving the data date and sharing a copy of the schedule with project stakeholders.
Move the Data Date
As a result of the most recent update cycle, the scheduler has up-to-date information from the field on start dates, end dates, and remaining duration for each schedule activity, and these updates have been applied to the schedule. The scheduler can now change the data date and review the impacts of these changes to the schedule.
The data date is used as the starting point to calculate the dates of all remaining activities. As a best practice, the data date should match the “As Of” date that aligns with the most recent updates to the schedule.
Follow the steps below to see how to change the data date.
Step 2
In the Schedule Settings pop-up window, enter the new data date. This date should be the “current” or “as-of” date for the schedule.
The updated data date is now visible on the Gantt chart, and the scheduler can review scheduled-to-date performance.
Report to Stakeholders
With the update cycle complete, the scheduler can take a snapshot of the schedule. This copy can be saved as a historical record, used within InEight Schedule for comparisons, or submitted to clients and stakeholders.
Create a Snapshot
Follow the steps below to learn how to create a snapshot.
Report to Stakeholders
As updated schedules become available, you may need to share them outside of InEight Schedule. For example, you may need to submit the schedule with a payment application or prepare a report for the project owner.
Follow the steps below to learn how to export a copy of the schedule.
Step 3
