• Indicator for unavailable columns – When selecting unavailable columns in the column chooser, a yellow caution icon now shows when a column is unavailable. Previously, there was no indication the column was unavailable until adding them and then accessing the Edit activity component slide-out panel.
  

VIDEO | 24.11 Release Overview

General release is available starting 09-DEC-2024.

• Bulk deletions with applied filters – You can now apply filters to bulk deletion operations. Deleted values can now be tagged and filtered to help target specific components. Previously, all records were deleted even when a filter was applied. For more information, see Component Creation from Scratch.

• Unavailable values from InEight Platform – You can now filter on attributes or artifacts marked as Unavailable from Platform. Previously, the values were pulled in from Platform but could not be removed. Read more

  Now when values are marked as Unavailable in Platform, hover text that shows errors indicating unavailable values now show in the grid and the Edit activity component slide-out panel. The unavailable values show as disabled until the data association is removed by selecting another value. When updated, the field is no longer available, and it will be cleared from the list of values. This is not a delete option; you are required to resolve the issue by selecting an available value.

• Custom project values – You can now add custom project values from master data to your quantity tracking grid and view a predefined set of values under the new Project Values section of the component details. Read more

  After assigned project value types are created in the master data library, they can be linked to a project, which then lists the project values in quantity tracking. Go to Quantity Tracking > Column chooser to add the new project values to your grid. A new Project Values section was added to the Edit activity component slide-out panel. For more information, see

  Component Creation from Scratch.

  

• CBS position column – The CBS position column was added in the Quantity Tracking grid to include the CBS position value from InEight Control cost items.

• Release 24.11 Component APIs deprecated fields – Starting with Release 24.11, system, subsystem, turnover, area, and commodity related fields will be deprecated and will no longer be available to provide data. To accommodate this change, the ProjectValues array has been added to the component APIs in Release 24.9. For more information about these changes and the APIs affected, refer to the APIM Integrations 24.9 Release Notes.

• Delayed check box – A new Delayed check box option was added in the Edit activity component slide-out panel. Read more

  A new Delayed check box was added in Quantity Tracking when editing claiming components that integrates with InEight Design. The check box lets users mark steps as delayed for further processing on component records. For more information, see Edit Claimed Quantities.
  
  

• Do not schedule check box – A new Do not schedule check box option was added to the Schedule component details. Read more

  A new Do not schedule check box was added to the Schedule section in Edit activity component > Component Details tab. When checked, the information integrates with InEight Design. The Do not schedule and Delayed options are not connected and can be set independent of each other. For more information, see Component Creation from Scratch.

• Improved claiming scheme page – The Claiming scheme page has been improved to let you perform all functions on the same page. Previously, you would be redirected to a different tab or dialog box. Read more

  This update shows a new page. The same claiming scheme options are there but, it is a new interface that takes away the need for new windows to be opened and allows everything to be entered within the same screen. There will no longer be pop ups or the need to click links that send you to new windows.

  

• Component Data Export history – The Data Export option in Quantity Tracking now shows a new history page. Read more

  In Quantity Tracking > Action > Export history, you can download previous component history exports. Previously, a history view was not available and single exports were in a CSV format limited to 40,000 records. The export is now a Microsoft Excel file with nearly unlimited component export count restrictions. For more information see Component Export History.

  

• Unsaved views and Global template – You will now see an unsaved view option when making changes to the quantity tracking layout. The option to share the current view can also be shared as a global template. If recipients make changes to the global template, the changes will be in an unsaved view. For more information, see Viewsets

• Plan URL filtering enhancement – Added parameters that can be specified in a URL link into Plan, that allows you to quickly locate specific components from a link outside of the InEight cloud platform. Read more

  The new parameters added are:

  •projectid (must be given always)

  •_area

  •_segment

  •_system

  •_subsystem

  •_turnover

  •_percentagecomplete

• Added ability to save a note-only entry against a component – No claiming is required to save a note against a component. Previously, a note was only saved with a claiming adjustment record.

• Bulk update ITP mapping – Updated ITP mapping in the quantity tracking view to allow for batches of 50 components to be associated with the same ITP values, or batch removed.

• Percentage values – Quantity Tracking columns % installed and % this period have been updated to allow percentage changes and accept decimals. Claiming by percentage is now available.

In this release, no features were added but technical improvements were made in the background to enhance your experience in Plan.

• New EWP field – You can now add an engineering work package (EWP) from InEight Design. Read more

• Schedule section for components– The new Schedule section in the Component details lets you manage schedule details directly from an activity component. Read more

  You can now enter or update the Activity ID, Activity name, Planned start date, and Planned end date of a schedule. You can enter free-form text or search existing data. If an existing Activity ID is selected, all other fields are populated with any data that has been previously added to InEight through XER imports.

  

• Quantity updates from the Standard Grid view– You can now update component quantity directly from the Standard Grid view in Quantity Tracking.

• Enhanced Assembly Component quantities– Updates to an assembly component will prompt the user to select related activity and material components to proportionally update quantities. Read more

  The ability to adjust the Related Components and have them proportionally adjust the Assembly component qty was added in Quantity tracking. Component Qty will list current worth, when the assembly component qty is adjusted, the forecast qty will update depending on what was entered under the Assembly component qty.

  

  The option to link can only be selected for components that are eligible for quantity change.

  

• SOV Link update-An updated Plan web link was created between InEight Contract and Plan to let you launch the Plan application and filter data using the ScheduleOfValuesItemId value. This filtering lets you find all components tied to the selected schedule of value. You can also find the components tied to a single or Split schedule of value

• Component name change-The component name can now be changed independent of any quantity. Previously the name field was locked after a component was claimed.

• Query Builder fix- The Discipline or Commodity fields in the Quantity tracking query builder are now shown in a drop-down list to prevent grammar and spelling issues when selecting values.

• Flag for default Components- The Is default component and Has linked ITPs fields have been added to Quantity tracking.Read more

  The Is default component field helps you quickly identify which components are created by the system. If set to True, the component is managed outside of Plan (either in InEight Control or Contract) If set to False the component is managed by a user in Plan directly.

  The Has linked ITPs field lets you quicky find all components that are mapped to Completions ITPs.

  

• Validated lists in Field attributes- You can now add a custom drop-down list to a field attribute using the Validated list attribute type. Read more

  The Field attributes drop-down list is found under the Discipline Specific section of the edit activity components window.

  

  To create the validated lists, go to the Field attributes page in the Master data libraries and then click the Add field attribute icon. The Add field attribute dialog box opens, where you can enter the attribute information. In the Type field, select Validated list. After you save the attribute, it shows on the Field attributes page.

  

• Construction work package (CWP) reports to InEight Document-You can now link Reports to InEight Document from an existing CWP. The flow mirrors the existing IWP flow.

• Field hover text and expandable columns- All fields on the ITP mapping panel now have hover text and the ability to adjust columns widths.

• Daily plan creation with all linked project values-The top Daily plan icon has been updated to let you select all eligible records to show in the IWP preview panel. Read more

  Previously daily plan creation was done individually. Now You can select multiple records, so you can see all available data points. This selects all the eligible data from an IWP that can be used in an InEight Progress daily plan. To create a daily plan with all linked projects, select a work package, and then go to the Workspace tab. Click on the Create daily plan with all available data icon to create daily plan with all available data.

  

  The eligible data from the IWP shows, and the Create daily plan screen loads from the right of the screen.

  

  Click Next to start the create a daily plan wizard with all the linked project values.

• Allow overclaiming of components option- A setting was added at the project level that allows over claiming in daily plans. Read more

• Column Chooser layout-You can now lock columns in place by selecting a lock icon which can be found in the column chooser window. Read more

  In quantity tracking, The Lock icon shows to the right of each columns name in the Selected columns section of the dialog box. To lock a column's position, click the unlocked icon next to the column name. The unlocked icon changes to a solid blue locked icon, and the column position cannot be moved.

  

• Split Contract Components- You can now split components up to 50 times without having to add new details to the contract. Read more

  In Quantity tracking select a single component then select the split component button. You will see the option to split the original component up to 50 new components. There you will apply quantity to the new components, the original component (line 1 in the split component window) will have its quantity drawn down.

  The original component cannot be set to a value less than zero. If all the quantities are associated to the split components, then the lowest value the original component can be set to is zero.

  

• Revision option for IWP report- Revision was added to the header drop down on the Work package report.Read more

  A Revision option was added in the Workpackage report which lets you to select the revision. This is going to automatically update to the next revision if the one selected is not available. This can also be managed in InEight Document. The Revisions shown in the drop-down list are the ones available from the project.

  

• Link activity components to ITP and Activity Description- You can now add ITPs to a component in inspections and test plans. Read more

  The activity components can be managed in both the Quantity Tracking and Work Packaging modules . To link the components, click the edit icon in the ITP’s column.

  

  Select the Add icon to show all available and approved ITPs.

  

  To add ITP’S to Component, Click the plus sign next to the available ITP. When an approved ITP is selected and added , it will bring it to the component where you can mark the activities as complete. The data integrates with InEight Compliance , so you can schedule and manage the inspections.

  

  

• Delete default components- You can now delete default components in the Quantity tracking page. Read more

  In Quantity Tracking, you can now delete a default component. Select your component and then click the Delete icon to delete the default component.

  

  At the project level under the global options, you can restore the deleted default components. When you use this option, you will enable all default components as restoring individual components will not be available.

  

• Planning Schedule- On the planning schedule, there is now a Data blocks completed column. This will address the sections completed in a work package.

• Quantity tracking AWP filter – You can now filter components by associated work packages. Read more

  To filter components by work package, click the AWP filter icon on the left side of the Quantity tracking page. The AWP filter slide-out panel opens. Select one or more work packages, and then click Apply to filter the list of components.

  

  If you select a parent work area or work package, all work packages under it are included in the filter.

  To remove an AWP filter, click the Clear CBS and user filters icon on the left side of the page.

• Linked Document package – If a work package is integrated with an InEight Document package, a link is now provided to the Document package. Read more

  On the Documents tab of a work package, a link to the associated Document package is shown at the top of the page. Click the link to open Document to the associated package.

  

• CWP material data block updates – The Issued qty, Reserved qty, and Available qty fields have been updated in the CWP material data block to match their appearance and function in the IWP material data block.

• Planning status field – The Planning status field at the top of a work package data block has been updated to be a drop-down list with the following options: Draft, Complete, and Started.

• Bulk update for parent record – The Parent record field has been added to the bulk edit functionality in Quantity tracking. Watch Video

• Column filter width – The width of drop-down lists for column filters in Quantity tracking now automatically adjusts to fit the contents in both standard and data block views.

• Delete view icon – You can delete a viewset from the drop-down list of views by clicking the Delete icon to the right of the viewset name.

• Work package card text – In the card view of work packages, the title and description fields now wrap to the following line to show more text.

• Share saved views – You can now share your saved views with other users and projects. Read more

  To share a view, save your view, and then select Send current view from the View drop-down menu.

  

  In the dialog box, select Users or Projects from the drop-down list, and then search by typing the name of the user or project. You can add multiple users and projects. Click Send.

  If you share a view with another project, any project-specific fields are not shown in the receiving project.

  

• New procurement component fields – New fields related to contracts have been added to the Procurement section of a component. Read more

  In the Add and Edit component side panels, the following fields have been added to the Procurement section:

  • Contract ID – Select a contract ID from this drop-down list to enable the additional fields. This is a contract in your project from InEight Contract.

  • Vendor name – This is automatically populated from the contract.

  • Contract line number – Select from the drop-down list.

  • SOV number – Select from the drop-down list.

  

• New Material data block fields – New fields that further break down the quantity have been added to the Material data block. Read more

  In Work packaging, the Material component data block of an installation work package has two new fields:

  • Reserved qty – The amount of the Available qty that can be allocated to your project.

  • Issued qty – The amount of the Available qty that has already been allocated to your project.

  

  These fields are useful when used with a bulk commodity and are populated using APIs and integration with an external material management solution such as Intelliwave or Jovix. These fields, along with the Available qty field, give you a better understanding of how you can reach your needed quantity.

  For example, you might have a bulk material component with a total quantity of 100 and a Needed qty value of 78 for the selected work package. The Available qty value is 75, which tells you much of that material is theoretically on hand at the warehouse. The Issued qty value is 25, which is the quantity from the warehouse that you have already spoken for. The Reserved qty value is 50, which is how much can be delivered to you right now, giving you the understanding that you need 28 more to fulfill your needed quantity.

• Man-hours and Man-hours per unit fields – New Mhrs and Mhrs/unit fields derived from InEight Control have been added to Work packaging so that you can calculate how much an activity component is worth. Read more

  The following fields have been added to the Activity components data block in Work packaging:

  • WBS CE Mhrs/unit

  • Component CE Mhrs

  • WBS CB Mhrs/unit

  • Component CB Mhrs

  

• CBS tree slide-out panel – A quick filter has been added to Quantity tracking to show the InEight Control WBS Structure, which helps you filter components to the CBS you want without jumping between Plan and Control. Read more

  To open the CBS tree in Quantity tracking, click the CBS tree icon on the left side of the page. The CBS tree slide-out panel opens.

  

  You can expand and collapse levels of the CBS tree using the arrow icons or the Expand all and Collapse all buttons. To select CBS items to filter for, click one or more CBS items, and then click Apply. The components list refreshes to show only components that match the selected CBS items.

  To clear the CBS query, click either Reset in the CBS tree slide-out panel or click the Clear CBS and user queries icon to the left of the panel.

• Component type colors – Component types now have colors to distinguish them from each other in the UI. Read more

  The component type colors are:

  • Activity: Blue

  • Material: Gray

  • Contract: Metallic purple

  • Assembly: Forest green

  The colors are shown in the Type column as circles and in the Add and Edit side panels as the headings for each section.

  

• Clear column filters button – A new button has been added to Quantity tracking to clear column filters. Read more

  To clear all column filters at the same time, click the Clear applied filters icon on the left of the Quantity tracking page.

  

  If you hover over the icon, a word bubble shows the current applied column filters.

• Edit work packages from grid – You can now edit fields for installation work packages from the grid view of the parent construction work package. Read more

  From the Work packages tab of a construction work package, you can click in fields in the grid, and then type or select values instead of opening each installation work package to change values.

  

• Manhours and Manhours per unit fields – New Mhrs and Mhrs/unit fields derived from InEight Control have been added to Quantity tracking so that you can calculate how much an activity component is worth. Read more

  The following fields have been added to the Add and Edit activity component panels in Quantity tracking and the Activity components data block in Work packaging:

  • WBS CE Mhrs/unit

  • Component CE Mhrs

  • WBS CB Mhrs/unit

  • Component CB Mhrs

  

• Copy work packages in same project – You can now copy up to 10 work packages at the same time inside the same project.

• Query values drop-down selection – In the query builder, all columns with project or expected values can be selected with a drop-down list instead of entered using freeform text.

• Work package start and end dates – Work packages now have planning start and end date fields.

• Quality, safety, and environmental notes – Notes for quality, safety, and environmental data blocks are only shown in Work packaging if the source data is not blank.

• Audit log – The Audit log lets you track changes made to components and what systems changes are made in. Read more

  To open the audit log from Quantity tracking, click Actions, and then select Component Audit Log from the drop-down menu.

  

  By default, the audit log shows the last 24 hours of changes made to components. You can change the date range in the upper left of the page.

  

  You can export a CSV file of your filtered view of the audit log.

• Quantity tracking filter row – A filter has been added to columns in standard grid view. Read more

  In the standard grid view of Quantity tracking, a filter row has been added below the column names. You can enter filter terms directly in the boxes under each column name, and then press the Enter key. The filter criteria stay visible.

  You can click the filter icon to change the operator or click the Clear icon to remove the filter criteria from a column.

  

• Contract component claiming – You can assign contract components to claiming schemes. Read more

  To add a contract claiming scheme, click Actions, and then select Manage claiming schemes from the drop-down menu.

  There is a contract discipline in the table. To add a contract claiming scheme, select the check box next to the contract discipline, and then click the Add icon. Fill out the claiming steps, and then click Save.

  You cannot assign a WBS or account code to the Contract discipline.

  

  You can now edit a contract component to change its claiming scheme. You cannot change the discipline of a contract component.

• Work package cost view – You can show work package progress in terms of cost instead of man-hours. Read more

  In the upper right of a work package page, there is a toggle to switch between Mhr % Complete and Cost % Complete. The tiles on the page change based on the toggle setting.

  

• Work package as constraint – You can add another work package as a constraint to cross-reference work in other areas or disciplines of a project. Read more

  To add a work package as a constraint, on the Constraint Management tab of an installation work package, click the Add icon. Click inside the blank space in the Category column, and then select Work package from the drop-down list. You can then type a work package name or ID in the Name / ID column to search for the work package you want.

  

  If a work package is a constraint, when that work package’s status is changed to Construction complete, its constraint status is also changed to Closed.

• Material and Contract data blocks in CWPs – The Workspace tab of a construction work package now has separate data blocks for material and contract components in addition to activity components.

• Disable daily plan icon for unavailable resource – Daily plans cannot be created from an activity component if it cannot be claimed in Quantity tracking. Daily plans cannot be created from labor or equipment if they are not active for the project date range.

• Bulk claiming installation date – An installation date field lets you enter the applicable date when bulk claiming components, which increases reporting accuracy. Read more

  In Quantity tracking data blocks, when you click the Apply installed quantity to all button, there is a new Install date field.

  

  After you apply the installed quantity, the install date is shown in the components’ Claiming history tab.

• External link – A new External link field has been added to Quantity tracking, so you can link to external resources. Read more

  The External link field is under Specifications in the Component details tab of the Add and Edit component side panels.

  

  External link is now also available as a column in the grid.

• Create daily plan from materials – You can create a daily plan in InEight Progress from material components in an IWP. Read more

  In the Material components data block of the IWP Workspace tab, the Add to daily plan button is now available for each material component with an associated WBS.

  

  When you click the Add to daily plan button, the Create daily plan side panel opens with the material component added. You can continue adding components until you are ready to click Next.

• Intelliwave integration – You can track materials assigned as constraints in work packages by integrating with Intelliwave. This gives clarity about the status of materials that can hold up work if not on site. Read more

  Intelliwave provides materials management and tracking applications that can be integrated with Plan. The integration is enabled in Plan project-level settings under the General section. To use this integration, you must turn on Enable external material tracking integrations.

  

  Intelliwave integration lets you see a new Available qty column in the Material components data block in the IWP Workspace tab. In addition to the available quantity, this column’s values can be hyperlinks to the related Intelliwave material record.

  

  If you pin a material component as a constraint, associated notes on the Constraint management tab can contain notes sent from Intelliwave.

  To send or receive Available quantity, links, and constraint note data to and from Intelliwave, you must use the WorkPlanComponent_Get, WorkPlanComponent_Post, and WorkPlanConstraint_Get APIs.

• Turnover complete status – A new status lets you indicate that an IWP has completed turnover.

• Work package name length – Work package names can now be 100 characters in length.

• Allow as-built at non-terminal level – Cost items are now available regardless of the value of the Is terminal flag in InEight Control. This feature lets you track costs and quantities at different levels. Read more

  In Plan and Progress, a WBS is available for use according to the following criteria in Control:

  • Hide in Plan and Progress value

  • WBS locked status

  • WBS Allow as-built values are All, Cost, or Quantity

  If the WBS Allow as-built is set to Quantity, then all quantity functions are allowed. If the value is Cost, then only new manhour entries are allowed from Progress. If the value is All, then no restrictions are enforced for the WBS through the Allow as-built setting.

• Change component name with import – You can now change a component name during import. Read more

  To change a component name, you must first know the component ID. This ID is used as the key reference point for all components.

  To find the component ID, from Quantity tracking in standard grid view, click the Export icon, and then select Data export. The Microsoft Excel file shows the component IDs in column A.

  To change a component name with import, click the Export icon, and then select Template. Enter the required information, including the Component ID from the data export file. You can now change the Name field to a new value.

• Constraint notes – A slide-out panel lets you add notes related to constraints in one place to have conversations with vendors and subcontractors. Read more

  On the Constraint Management tab of an IWP, if you add a note to a constraint, the Conversation notes side-panel opens. The format has been changed to be conversational. Each note is shown as a word bubble with the name of the person.

  

  Each note is limited to 500 characters and does not support any special formatting.

• IWP by status – A widget has been added to the home page that shows the number of active IWPs grouped by project and status.

• Quantity tracking redesign – The Quantity tracking interface has been updated to enhance the user experience. Changes include customization of row density in both views and queries moved to the side panel. Read more

  The Row density icon in the upper-right of the page lets you adjust the spacing between table rows. This feature is available in both standard grid and data block views. When you click the icon, you can choose between Relaxed, Narrow, and Tight spacing. Row density settings are managed independently for standard grid and data block views.

  

  The query builder has been redesigned to match the Work packaging query builder. To open the Queries side panel, click the query icon on the left side of the page. The side panel lists available queries and lets you add, edit, delete, copy, and share queries using the icons at the top of the panel.

  

  When you add a query, you define the query with individual column, operator, and value parameters. If you click Apply, the current query parameters are immediately applied to the page. You can also save the query for future use. If you click Reset, the current query parameters are removed, but the results keep the last applied query.

  

  Click the clear icon at the bottom of the side panel to clear the applied query from the results.

  

• Bulk delete components – A new option lets you delete components with zero claimed quantity in bulk. Read more

  The Bulk delete components option in the Actions menu lets you delete up to 500 of the first components listed at the same time. The components must have zero claimed quantity to be deleted. Components with installed quantity are never deleted, so only the first 500 zero-quantity components can be deleted.

  

  A warning dialog box requires you to confirm deletion before proceeding.

  

• Data block claiming – You can claim in data block view using percentage complete or to-date installed quantity at the component step level. Read more

  In data block view, there is an Apply installed quantity to all button at the top of each Step data block. You can use this button to apply an installed quantity to all components in your current view.

  You can only apply installed quantity to up to 50 components at a time, so you must filter your view first to show only the components you want to apply the installed quantity to.

  When you click Apply installed quantity to all, you can choose to apply an amount or a percentage. After you enter a value, click Apply.

  If you apply a certain amount that exceeds a component’s remaining quantity, all the remaining quantity is installed.

  

  After you apply the installed quantity, the changes are flagged as pending in each row until you click Save claiming.

  

• Direct link with WBS – You can link directly to Quantity tracking automatically filtered to a particular WBS code. The exact URL depends on your organization setup but ends in AppPlan/QuantityPlan/QuantityPlanLaunch?projectId=[ProjectID]&WBSPhaseCode=[WBS].

• Quantity tracking redesign – The Quantity tracking interface has been updated to enhance the user experience. Read more

• Construction segments – A new construction segment field lets you roll data up to a location level other than the construction area. Read more

  Construction segments give you an additional way to categorize component location data. You can define segments in Quantity tracking > Configure CWA and project values > Location.

  You can assign a construction segment to a component in the Location section of the add and edit component side panels.

  Construction segments are only available in Quantity tracking.

  

• Zero percent claiming – Claiming history is captured for components associated with zero percent claiming steps. Read more

  Steps are sometimes completed with zero percent claiming to mark certain milestones, such as completion of an inspection. Previously, zero percent claimed steps were not reported. Steps with zero percent claiming are now treated the same as any other claimed step for reporting purposes.

• Constraint management improvements – Additional columns have been added to the Constraint management tab in installation work packages. Read more

  The Constraint management tab of IWPs has two new Expected date and Notes columns. The add and delete icons have also been moved.

  

• Material components data block improvements – Additional columns have been added to the Material components data block in installation work packages. Read more

  The Material components data block in the IWP Workspace tab has a new Needed qty column.

  Needed qty lets you specify how much of a material component is needed for the work package. Needed qty is most useful for bulk components. The column is available only for components, not for generic materials.

  

• Construction area setting – A setting lets you enable whether components automatically inherit construction areas from Work packaging to Quantity tracking. Read more

  In Settings, there is a new toggle to automatically inherit CWA to component from assigned work package. By default, the toggle is enabled. If you want to keep Quantity tracking construction area separate from Work packaging construction work area, you can disable the toggle.

  If you later decide to enable the toggle, you can click Refresh to reset component construction areas to match Work packaging.

  

• Import blank values – When you import a template to Work packing with a blank value in a field, the previous value is not deleted. If want to delete a value when importing, you must now type null in the field.

• Export required columns – All required columns are exported to the import template, even if they are hidden in the UI.

• Norwegian – Plan is available in the Norwegian (Bokmål) language.

• Common navigation – The common navigation used across all InEight cloud platform applications has been enhanced for ease of use. For more details, refer to InEight Platform release notes.

• Contract components – This feature links Contract type components to InEight Contract Schedule of Value (SOV) items for billing validation. Read more

  An SOV item from Contract automatically becomes a contract component in Plan if the SOV is not set to hide in Plan and Progress.

  In Quantity tracking, a contract component's basic details from Contract cannot be edited. You can associate a contract component to an assembly.

  

• Contract component data block – A Contract component data block has been added to installation work packages. This allows better tracking of these new components in InEight Plan. Read more

  The Contract components data block is available to add to the Workspace tab of installation work packages. This data block lets you add contract components from Quantity tracking to a work package. You can also pin contract components as constraints, which are then shown in the Constraint Management tab.

  

• Component construction area – When you assign a component to a work package, the construction area is automatically replaced with the work package’s area. This change keeps data consistent at the component level. Read more

  When you add a component to a work package, the component's construction area is updated in Quantity tracking to match the work area that the work package is assigned to. After you assign an activity component to a work package, you cannot edit the Construction area field of that component in Quantity tracking.

• Quantity tracking redesign – The Quantity tracking data block user interface has been updated to enhance user experience. Read more

  The data block view has been redesigned to focus on claiming. There is now one Component details data block on the left side and a Step data block on the right side.

  

  The design lets you see only the details you need while claiming only the steps you want. This change reduces the need to scroll left and right too often.

  The Component details data block can have a maximum of seven columns. To choose which details to show, click Manage detail columns.

  The Name column is required.

  

  The Step data block shows certain columns for steps that you select. To choose which steps and columns to show, click Manage step columns.

  

  When you are ready to save your work, the Save button is now located in the upper right of the page.

  To support the new design, you can no longer add data blocks because the necessary columns are now in either the Component details or Step data blocks. The Import and Export icons have also been removed from data blocks because those features are best used in the grid view.

  Data block viewsets have been reset to support the redesign.

• Archive import history – The import history table has a new option to show archived imports that used the old import method.

• Import improvement – The import process for components and work packages has been improved, so you can keep using the application while an import file is being processed in the background. Read more.

  When you import components and work packages with a Microsoft Excel file, the Import data from template dialog box tells you that your file has been successfully added to the import queue.

  

  If you click View file import queue, a table shows with all your import files and their statuses.

  

  You can continue working in the application while your imports are processed. A notification shows you if your file is imported successfully or not.

• Bulk edit components – You can edit multiple components at once on the web, instead of filtering for the components you want, and then exporting and importing a Microsoft Excel file. Read more.

  If you select multiple components, you can click the Bulk edit icon, which opens the Bulk edit dialog box. In the dialog box, you can select each editable column and enter a new value. You can also add and remove columns. Click Save to confirm your edits.

  

  You can edit a maximum of 50 components at the same time. In the Bulk edit dialog box, you can edit a maximum of five columns at once.

• AWP query builder – A query builder lets you easily search for works areas and work packages. Read more.

  You can open the query builder by clicking the query icon between the Work Packages and Planning Schedule side panel and the list of work packages. When you click the icon, the Queries side panel opens. This side panel lists available queries and lets you add, edit, delete, copy, and share queries using the icons at the top of the panel.

  

  When you add a query, you define the query with individual column, operator, and value parameters. If you click Apply, the current query parameters are immediately applied to the page. You can also save the query for future use. If you click Reset, the current query parameters are removed, but the list of work packages keeps the last applied query.

  

  Click the clear icon at the bottom of the side panel to clear the applied query from the list of work packages.

  

• Related components – A new tab in the component slide-out panel shows relationships between the selected component and other components. You can easily associate assembly and material components. Read more.

  If you select a material or assembly component, and then click the Edit icon, the Edit component side panel has a new Related Components tab.

  

  The Related Components tab shows components already associated with the select component.

  Only associated components lower in the hierarchy are shown in the Related Components tab. For an assembly component, materials and activities are shown. For a material component, only activities are shown.

  You can also click Associate existing components to associate components in the current project.

  You can add associations from the Related Components tab but you cannot remove them. To remove an association, you must edit the Parent record field of the associated component.

• Temporary structures attachments – You can attach documents such as drawings and sketches to the temporary structures data block. Read more.

  In the Temporary structures data block, there is a column of attachment icons to the left of the Name column. If you click the icon, the Link document dialog box opens. In the dialog box, you can attach documents from your computer or InEight Document, if you have set up Document integration.

  

• Quantity tracking redesign – The user interface of the Quantity tracking module has been redesigned to enhance your experience. Read more.

  The numbers of displayed results and selected components have been moved to the bottom left of the page. There are also buttons to view selected components and clear selection. These buttons help you narrow or expand your view between specific components and all components.

  

  When you view only selected components, and then export, only the selected components are exported.

• Import CWP and IWP sections – You can import sections of CWPs and IWPs from another project, eliminating repetitive data entry and letting you create templates for similar types of work. Read more.

  In the Work Packages tab of the Work packaging module, the Import icon has a new From other project option in the drop-down list.

  

  If you select From other project, you can select an origin project in the dialog box, and then select origin work packages. You can import from multiple work packages at the same time. You must then choose which sections of the work packages to import. You can choose the Overview page and most of the Workspace data blocks.

  The Documents page is shown in the dialog box but cannot be selected to copy.

  You can only import data that is entered as free text. You cannot import project-specific data such as components.

  

  You must have permission to create work packages in the destination project to import into that project.

• Generic labor and equipment – You can assign generic labor and equipment from InEight Control to a work package. This feature is useful because employee names and equipment IDs usually are not known when a work package is created. Read more.

  Resources brought into InEight Control from InEight Estimate can already be associated with components added in the Quantity tracking module. The association is made using the same WBS. If you add a component associated with the same WBS as the estimated resources to an IWP, you have new options to add associated labor and equipment.

  In the Labor and Equipment data blocks, if you click Add equipment from resources, there is a new Estimate/Control Resources tab in the dialog box. The tab lists available labor and equipment from assigned WBSs that you can add to the IWP.

  You must first add a component associated with the appropriate WBS to the IWP before the Estimate/Control Resources tab shows any labor or equipment assigned to the same WBS.

  

  The labor and equipment shown in the tab is the same as shown when you go to Control > Workspaces > CBS, and then open a CBS’s Resourcestab. If you add resources to a CBS, only Labor, Construction Equipment, and Rented Construction Equipment resources are currently integrated with the Labor and Equipment data blocks in Plan.

  After you add Estimate/Control resources, you can see the estimated values, which can help you add actual resources to the data block. You can then delete the estimate resources. You can also pin estimate resources as constraints, which can be useful if you have trouble filling them with actual resources.

• Quality, safety, and environmental data in IWP – The data stored with account codes automatically populates installation work packages when you add a component with a WBS, so you do not need to manually enter this data. Read more.

  In Master data libraries > Account codes, you can add general, quality, safety, and environmental notes to each account code. If the account code is associated with a cost item in Control, and the cost item’s WBS is associated with a component in the Quantity tracking module, the notes can be seen in an IWP.

  If you add a component associated with an account code that has notes, the Quality, Safety, and Environmental data blocks are updated with placeholder entries that show the notes in the Description column. The Account code and Account code desc columns are also filled.

  

  You can fill the remaining columns with data but cannot edit the notes in the Description column. If you delete an entry, you have to re-associate the component to add the notes entry back.

• Assembly components – A new assembly component type lets you associate materials and activities with a larger parent component. Read more.

  You can add an assembly component in the Quantity tracking module by clicking the Addicon, and then selecting Assemblyin the drop-down list. The assembly component can then be associated with other material and activity components by using the Parent record field.

  

  For example, if you are building a wall using 2x4s, you might have the following components:

  • Material of 2x4s
  • Activity of cutting 2x4s to lengths from rough cut
  • Activity of labor to assemble 2x4s into wall

  If you create a new assembly component to build a 2x4 wall, you can set the parent record of the material and labor activities to be the assembly. If you set the parent record of the cutting activity to be the material, the cutting activity also becomes part of the assembly. Using assembly components and parent records lets you create hierarchies of components so that claiming rolls up into one record. The new Assembly column shows which assembly each component belongs to.

  

  Assembly components can also be added to work packages in the Materials data block.

• Copy CWP or IWP sections – You can copy sections of CWPs or IWPs between projects, eliminating repetitive data entry and letting you create templates for similar types of work. Read more.

  In the Work Packages tab of the Work packaging module, the Export icon has a new To other project option in the drop-down list.

  

  If you select To other project, you can select a destination project in the dialog box, and then choose which sections of the work package to export. You can choose the Overview page and most of the Workspace data blocks.

  The Documents page is shown in the dialog box but cannot be selected to copy.

  You can only export data that is entered as free text. You cannot export project-specific data such as components.

  

  You must have permission to create work packages in the destination project to export to that project.

• InEight Document required fields – Metadata fields that are required in Document are available for you to define during report integration, eliminating the need for you to go into Document to change the fields. Read more.

  If your project is integrated with Document, when you print a report of a work package, and then preview it, a new Required Fields For Document section is at the top of the preview. In this section, you can select values for the required fields before approving the report.

  

• Create new component from existing – You can copy or split a component, so the copies retain all attributes, WBS, and claiming schemes. This feature lets you quickly create new components that match existing ones. Read more.

  You can copy a component with the new Copy icon and split one component into multiple components with the new Split icon. Both icons are in the upper-left of the Components page in Quantity tracking.

  

  The Copy and Split icons are only available when you select a single component.

  When you click the Copyicon, the Copy component dialog box opens, where you can change the name of the new component. The default name adds -copy to the end of the original component’s name. Click Copyto create the new component.

  When you click the Spliticon, the Split component dialog box opens, where you can add multiple new components to split into, change their names, and distribute their quantities. Click Splitto create the new components.

• Customize Discipline and Commodities lists – You can now customize the Discipline and Commodities lists, eliminating the need to make a change on the back end. Read more.

  To maintain disciplines and commodities for your organization, go to Master data libraries > Disciplines and commodities. In the upper-left of this page, there are icons to add, edit, or delete disciplines and commodities.

  

  You can add disciplines and commodities from either tab by selecting the type in the Add/Edit Discipline or Commodity dialog box. For example, you can add a commodity when viewing the Disciplines tab.

  You can only edit or delete one discipline or commodity at a time, and only if the discipline or commodity is not in use.

• Integration improvements– The following information is now available to other applications like InEight Model and InEight Schedule, which eliminates duplicate entry between systems and enhance data integrity:
  • Activity components and claiming information
  • Discipline and commodity codes
  • IWP constraints

• Claiming schemes export – This feature lets you export specific claiming schemes to other projects without exporting all of them. Read more.

  On the Disciplines and claiming schemes page, when you select certain claiming schemes, and then click the Export to other project icon, the Claiming scheme project export dialog box has two new options at the bottom. If you choose Selected claiming schemes, only the claiming schemes you selected are sent. The All active claiming schemes option sends all claiming schemes as usual.

  

• AWP - Percent complete by dollars or man-hours – A percent complete option has been added to calculate based on dollars earned instead of man-hours earned against a component. This gives you two ways to assess how work packages are progressing. Read more.

  Two new columns called Mhr % comp and Cost % comp have been added to the Work Packages page. These metrics can also be seen when you open each CWA, CPW, and IWP where they are shown as pie charts in the left side menu.

  

• AWP - Associated material and activity components – When you add a material or activity component to a work package, you have the option to add associated activity or material components, respectively. Read more.

  In an IWP’s Workspace tab, in the Material components data block, if you Add materials by project and the materials you select have associated activity components, a dialog box is now shown asking if you want to included the related activities. You can choose which related activities to add, or only add the materials. If you Add related activites, the associated activity components are added to the Activity components data block.

  

  This feature also works in the other direction. In the Activity components data block, if you Add Activity components by WBS and the activities you select have associated material components, a dialog box asks if you want to include related material components. If you select Yes, add related material, the material is added to the Material components data block.

  

• Integrate InEight Model components– This integration lets you assign a component to a CWP from Model, and then see that assignment in Plan. The integration can also use elements from Model to create components in Plan.
  • Update component completion progress– This feature publishes the percent completion of the component to the common data environment for integration.
  • Update component attribute values– This feature publishes and consumes attributes that are assigned to components. This is beneficial for integration depending on the level of data in Model.
• Integrate InEight Schedule dates– By integrating with Schedule, you can automatically bring the schedule ID and start and finish dates from Schedule so they are assigned to an IWP and CWP.
• Commodities and Sub System Notes– A notes field has been added to the Commodities and Sub System tables so you can expand on information.
• Component name– The Component ID column in Quantity tracking has been renamed Component name to be more consistent with naming conventions in Plan.

• Material component changes – A new setting has been added to give you the option of not associating a WBS with, or claiming against, material components. Instead, a material component can be used as the physical item that activities are performed against to install in the field. Previously, claiming was done against material components that earn man hours in Control. You are now able to choose how material components behave to suit your project’s needs. Read more.

  In project Settings, there is a new Associate claiming to Material components setting in the General section.

  For new projects, this setting defaults to off. For existing projects, this setting defaults to on, and is locked when claiming is greater than zero for any active material components. You can unlock the on value by removing claiming from all active material components.

  

  When the setting is off and you add or edit material components, fields related to claiming are not shown.

  You also can associate activity components with material components by filling the new Element field in the summary section. Element is also a new column in grids and data blocks.

  

• Add documents from Workspace – You can now attach documents from the Lessons learned, Quality forms, and Work sequence data blocks in the Workspace tab. This change saves you time adding attachments without going to the Documents tab. Read more.

  In the Lessons learned, Quality forms, and Work sequence data blocks of the Workspace tab, there is a new icon you can use to add supporting documents directly from the data blocks. When you select the icon, the Link document dialog box opens.

  

• Remove default components– When you turn off default component creation, any existing default components without claiming are now removed. Default components with claiming can only be removed after reducing claiming to zero and refreshing default components. Previously, you could refresh default components only when this setting was turned on.
• Link column in Documents tab– A Link (URL) column has been added to the Documents tab of CWPs and IWPs, so you can directly see the document link in the table. Previously, the document title was a link.
• Constraint management updates– A Name/ID column has been added to show information that was not previously visible in Constraint management. Filter criteria language has also been changed from True and False to Open and Closed, to clarify meaning.

• Planning Schedule – This new page in AWP is a Gantt chart view of work packages that lets you plan the building and completion of the plan. It also lets you see when the plan is scheduled to be executed in the field. This chart gives you a clear representation of when work planning needs to be completed for work to efficiently progress. Read more.

  The new Planning Schedule page is located under the AWP Work packaging module as a new tab. The old Work Packages tab is now the default landing page.

  

  The Planning Schedule is split into two vertical panes, whose widths can be adjusted by dragging the center border. The left pane is a table of data that shows work package information such as planning start and end dates, construction start date, and planning and construction hours. Not all columns are shown by default. Use the column chooser to add more.

  

  You can edit the values of the following columns in the table:

  • Planner
  • Planning hours
  • Planning start date
  • Planning end date
  • Planning % complete

  The other columns pull data from their work packages.

  The right pane reflects the planning and construction data from the left pane in a Gantt chart, which gives a visual representation of a project schedule. The right pane can be toggled between weekly and monthly views.

  

  For each work package, bars in the chart show duration and percentage complete. You can double-click these bars (or points when the start and end dates are the same) to open a window to edit the start and end dates and percentage complete.

  

  A query builder has also been added to Planning Schedule to narrow the list of work packages to only the ones you are interested in. You can open the query builder by selecting the double arrows to the right of the left navigation panel.

  

• Constraint Management – Constraint Management is now an IWP tab to which you can pin items from Workspace data blocks. This separate tab eliminates the possibility of duplicate entries that could happen when constraint management was another data block. Read more.

  In a work package, Constraint Management is now a separate tab instead of a data block in the Workspace tab. You can add constraints by selecting the new pin icon to the left of entries in data blocks. When you pin an item, it automatically shows in Constraint Management. You can also manually add constraints.

  

  

• AWP improvements– Improvements to the new AWP module include:

  • Reorder work sequence – You can now reorder a work sequence with drag-and-drop functionality. Previously, you could only reorder steps by removing and creating new them. Read more.

    In the Workspace tab of an IWP or CWP, the Work sequence data block now has drag-and-drop buttons to the left of the check boxes. You can click and hold these buttons to move the work steps up or down in sequence.

    

  • Data block completion indicator – A check box has been added to data block headers, which gives you a visual indicator that data block contents are completely planned. Read more.

    For CWPs and IWPs, there is now a Planning complete check box at the top of each data block. You can use this check box to manually indicate that the work in that data block is completely planned. The check box is never automatically checked.

    

  • CWP/IWP naming convention– The mandatory CWP and IWP prefix naming convention has been removed, so you have more flexibility to name work packages. The prefixes are still added by default but can now be deleted.

• Add from InEight Document – The add document functionality in the AWP module now links to the InEight Document Packages module, so you don’t have to add documents in both applications. A drop-down query lets you search documents instead of copying and pasting a URL. Read more.

  Application integration setup

  This feature requires integration with InEight Document. If you have not already set up your integration, you can do so in the InEight cloud platform under Suite administration > Application integrations. On the Other tab, you must set up an entry that points to the Document URI and contains the appropriate password. You may need to consult your InEight representative for this information if it is not already provided.

  After you are set up in the Other tab, you can use the InEight Document tab to map cloud platform projects with their corresponding projects in Document.

  Link document

  If you add a document in the Documents tab of an IWP, the SELECT FILE… drop-down menu now has an InEight Document option.

  If you can’t select this option, you must set up integration with InEight Document by selecting the cogwheel icon to go to the Application integrations page. See Application integration setup for more information.

  

  The Search from InEight Document window lets you filter documents by various criteria. After you Search, you can use the add icons in the search results to select which documents you want to pull into the IWP.

  

  After you save, you can select an added document to go to its record in InEight Document and see more information.

  When you link to InEight Document, you are linking to a record in the Documents module of that application, which may have multiple files attached.

• Dutch language localization– Language settings have been added for Dutch, expanding the options for localization.

In the 19.9 release, Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) methodology was officially introduced for Plan. We are continuing to add new AWP features in this release and in future releases to help improve productivity and increase the predictability of project performance.

Release summary

• Print IWP to PDF - You can now attach external files such as photos to an IWP and print to a PDF. The PDF can then be associated with Document and available in an easily-readable document to be shared with field personnel. Previously, the work package was only consumable in Plan itself. Read more.

  Application integration setup

  This feature requires integration with InEight Document. If you have not already set up your integration, you can do so in the InEight cloud platform under Suite administration > Application integrations. On the Other tab, you must set up an entry that points to the Document URI and contains the appropriate password. You may need to consult your InEight representative for this information if it is not already provided.

  After you are set up in the Other tab, you can use the InEight Document tab to map cloud platform projects with their corresponding projects in Document.

  Send packages and documents to Document

  After you have set up integration with Document, when you create a new IWP, a corresponding record is created in the Packagesmodule of Document in the Draftsfolder. If you have existing IWPs in Plan that you want integrated with Document, you can simply open the IWP in Plan to trigger the creation of its corresponding package in Document.

  

  In addition to syncing IWPs with packages in Document, you can send approved reports to Document and automatically revision them. When viewing an IWP in Plan, select the new Print report button in the top right. After the report processes, select Preview report to open the report PDF in a new page.

  

  When you select Approve, the report is sent to Document in the Documentstab of the package. If you Rejectthe report or Cancelout of the page, the report is not sent to Document. Every time you approve a report, a new revision is automatically created in Document, so you can track versions.

  

• Schedule link – This enhancement gives you the ability to associate a schedule activity ID with components or claiming rule steps in a CWP or IWP directly from a validated list. This provides you with clear ties to the schedule and assures better accuracy. Previously, this association in Plan was manually entered with no integrated association. Read more.

  The functionality of the Schedule ID field has been changed to integrate with data from Control in three places:

  • Work packaging module:
    • IWPOverviewtab
    • CWPConstruction Work Package Overviewtab
  • Quantity tracking module:
    • Add/edit Activity/Material component sidebar:
      • Component Detailstab underSummarysection

  When you start typing in the field, a drop-down list of matches now appears.

  

  You can also still enter a Schedule ID manually if you are not using this integrated functionality in Control.

• Component count – A component count has been added to the Quantity Tracking page, giving you a quick glimpse of how many components are in the system or filtered to. Previously, you had no visibility into how many components were shown, which could lead to trying to filter too much. Read more.

  On the Components page, there is now a Displayed results field next to the delete icon that dynamically shows how many components appear in your results.

  

• Claiming Scheme assignment by Account Code - You can now save time by allowing the system to auto-map WBS to claiming schemes based on the account code association against the claiming scheme and cost items in Control. This process was previously manual and required selecting individual WBS, which can number in the hundreds or more. Read more.

  In the Quantity tracking module, under Actionsand Manage claiming schemes, there is a new Map account code to WBS icon in the top right of the Disciplines and Commodities tabs.

  

  After you have assigned an account code to a claiming scheme, you can now select the checkbox next to the claiming scheme and select the icon to automatically map WBS to the associated account code. You can select multiple claiming schemes to map all of them at the same time.
