Welcome to InEight Plan. In the InEight Plan Quantity Tracking module, you can break down cost items budgeted in InEight Control into smaller, more manageable sub-items called "components." Your components can be either activity, material, contract, or assembly related to help you break down quantities and track progress. Note that in Plan your components are referenced back to the cost items they pertain to by their WBS code.
To create a component from scratch, click the Add icon and select from either the Activity, Material, or Assembly options. Name your component and enter its details in the slide out panel here. You can also link a component to an existing WBS phase code so it's available to claim against. If in your project settings, you've set your project to associate claiming schemes to WBS phase codes, the unit of measure, discipline, and claiming scheme fields will auto-populate when you select a WBS.
You can manage the information as needed to the Locations, Specifications, Procurement, Discipline Specific, and Engineering sections. When finished, click "Save" and close your component. Your new component will now appear in the components register and is ready to be claimed against. Once created, you can save time building similar work packages by clicking the Copy icon to duplicate components.
Copied components will maintain all their original attributes, like a WBS code or associated claiming schemes. If existing work packages are too cumbersome, select the Split icon to divide up components. This allows you to rename and redistribute the assigned quantities, modifying your claiming schemes. Well, that covers creating components from scratch.
Thanks for watching!
