InEight Plan and Progress connect planning, field execution, and progress tracking into a single, continuous workflow.
Together, these tools help project teams define the work, prepare it for execution, and capture accurate performance data from the field.
This structured approach improves visibility into daily operations and creates a more reliable flow of information between field teams, project controls, timekeeping, payroll, and other connected systems.
Plan and Progress coordinate work across the evolution of a project, translating the high-level details established during the estimating stage into manageable, executable work.
InEight Plan supports how work is defined, structured, and prepared, while InEight Progress supports how that work is executed and measured.
InEight Plan uses Quantity Tracking and Work Packaging to define how progress is measured and to organize work into manageable, executable scopes.
In Quantity Tracking, teams break cost item quantities into smaller units called components. These components represent the specific portions of work that will be planned, assigned, claimed, and reported in the field. Rather than tracking progress only at a broad cost item level, components provide a more detailed way to understand what work has been completed.
Claimed component quantities roll up into the completed quantity for the associated item, helping align field progress with project controls.
To support more consistent progress measurement, teams can also apply claiming schemes to components. Claiming schemes define weighted steps for completing a component, allowing teams to report partial progress in a controlled and repeatable way. This is useful when a component is not simply complete or incomplete, and progress needs to be credited as work advances.
Quantities can be claimed in Control, Plan, or Progress, depending on the workflow.
In Plan, quantity claiming is performed at the component level. Planning team members can directly input and manage claimed quantities and maintain a clear claiming history.
Work Packaging applies advanced work packaging principles to help teams plan construction work with the end goal in mind. Instead of planning in isolated phases, advanced work packaging supports an execution driven approach that considers design, procurement, construction, and installation needs together.
Plan provides three levels of work package definition: construction work areas, construction work packages, and installation work packages.
Construction work areas are used to divide the project into larger areas of work.
Construction work packages define logical, manageable divisions of construction scope and are typically aligned with the project execution plan, schedule, project controls.
Installation work packages provide the detailed, field ready scope needed for a crew to perform work safely, measurably, and efficiently.
This hierarchy gives project teams a structured way to move from high level scope to detailed executable work. It also helps teams manage readiness by identifying the components, documentation, risks, and constraints associated with the work before it is assigned for execution.
Once work has been organized into work packages, teams can create daily plans for field crews directly from those packages.
This allows relevant planning information, components, planned quantities, resources, and hours to move into execution.
InEight Progress is where planned work is translated into daily execution, field activity is recorded, and completed work is reviewed.
Progress includes three modules: Daily Planning, Weekly Time Sheet, and Time Center.
Daily Planning supports the creation, execution, and approval of daily plans.
Weekly Time Sheet and Time Center support broader time entry, time review, and time processing workflows.
Daily Planning is organized into three phases: planning, execution, and approval.
During planning, project team members define the work, resources, and productivity expectations for the day.
Plans can be created from work packages in InEight Plan or managed directly in Progress.
Teams can copy plans, make edits, and manage changes from the daily planning register to work more efficiently.
Daily plans can also include additional details such as reason codes, billing classes, work orders, and vendor work when needed for reporting, time capture, or project tracking.
Once planning is complete, the daily plan moves into the execution phase.
In the field, users can review the planned work and supporting details, then record actual hours, installed quantities, notes, photos as work is completed.
The sign in/sign out functionality allows crew members to sign in at the beginning of the day, enter breaks, confirm their hours at the end of the day, and answer sign out questions used to support compliance requirements.
Once the plan is submitted for approval, supervisors review the details recorded during execution.
Hours and quantities can be approved independently or together.
If changes are needed, the plan can be edited or sent back to execution for revision.
Progress also includes tools that help teams organize and review daily plan information.
The Management Console provides one location to manage attachments and toolbox talks across multiple plans.
The Daily Plan Review page provides a resource focused view of employees and equipment assigned to daily plans, including planned and actual hours and potential conflicts.
Plan and Progress also work with a variety of systems to support a connected project workflow.
Within the InEight Suite, Plan and Progress connect field planning and execution data with related budget, schedule, document, and project controls information.
External integrations such as ERP and payroll systems, material tracking, and import/export capabilities give teams flexibility as they manage project data.
InEight Plan and Progress provide a structured approach to moving from high-level scope to field execution and progress reporting. By helping teams define the work, organize it for execution, and capture actual results from the field, these tools improve visibility into daily performance and support better project decision making over time.
