In this video, we'll show you how to create and link issues in the Completions HQ application. I'm already logged in and in the Issues module. Based on your current role, you may have the ability to create a new issue. By selecting CREATE NEW ISSUE you can detail out what the sample issue is.
The TYPE of issue is specific to how your project is configured. In this template, we have these two options, though they could be any number of term such as snag, NCR or QSR. This TYPE field also indicates what data fields are required, as well as what the workflow order is, in order to complete the issue. You can select a CATEGORY, which is set-up by your project admin.
And for whichever CATEGORY you choose, it brings in specific SUMMARY results for you to choose from. You can add a description for the Issue. You'll want to be as detailed as you can be in the 750 characters that are allotted. Then you can select some additional meta-data, such as Punchlist Category, Drawing Number, and the Location where you found this Issue.
Of course, there'll be different metadata based on your project set-up. Then once you've completed it, click OK. Once you do, you'll see the Issue is showing a status of NEW. The last thing you need to do is link this issue to an Element to give it more context.
Once you select LINK TO EXISTING ELEMENTS, you can find a specific piece of piping to attach. For example, then you can isolate for your Isometrics and find the one to select. Once selected, click LINK SELECTED ELEMENTS. Say YES to "Setting the Creator."
Now the issue when created is linked back to that specific element. Once you're done creating your issue, you'll always want to hit PENDING UPDATES and then PUBLISH. If you had pictures or videos of the Issue, you'd go through and add those as ATTACHMENTS, after creating the issue. What we just accomplished was adding an Issue to an Element after the fact.
Now, let's review a few other ways to create Issues. So now we're in the Elements module. Since we're in the Isometric, if we click on Issues, we can see the issue that we just created. You can also add an existing Issue from here.
The difference is that if you add an issue from here, it will automatically be linked back to this Element. Another way to add an Issue is if you were executing a Checklist and came across an issue, you could create an Issue directly against the checklist itself. Or if there was a specific question on an executed checklist, you could select that specific question, hit Issues and then ADD ISSUE. Doing so would link that issue to the Checklist, but it would also link it back to the Element.
That's important for different reporting structures, because if you just ad-hoc created an issue from this menu, and it wasn't tied back to an Element, it might be hard to find that Issue later. So we usually recommend creating an Issue through an Element or Checklist. Well, that wraps up linking an issue. Thanks for watching.
