Welcome to InEight Design. This video demonstrates how to create a quantity item in the quantity forecasting module. A quantity item represents a scope of construction work that needs to be installed on the project. It enables you to break up a cost item scope of work into different segments, areas, systems, subsystems, and turnover packages on a project.
To create a quantity item, click here and the slide out appears. Make sure you are in the details tab. The required fields may be different to your environment depending on the project settings seen here. To start, create a description for the quantity item and assign a design element, which is a sub-discipline or higher level commodity grouping.
An overview of all design elements used on the project can be seen in the roll-up view here. Assign a unit of measure that relates to the design element. In this example for supports, we'll use each. The WBS phase code relates to the same code found in InEight Control.
This helps reflect the latest design quantity in the control budget until design is complete. The man hour per unit rates are either generated from innate control or manually according to your project settings. This will highlight the man hour impacts from design changes. As a design quantity changes, the planned man hour changes are calculated.
If you also have InEight Plan, components can be assigned to a quantity item, and then reference values can be configured. These can be seen here. In the quantities tab, you can manage the original budget, the current budget, and the current forecast takeoff quantity. The current forecast takeoff quantity can be driven off your current budget quantity, design stage quantity or component quantity.
A blue push bin will be displayed with the stage that is currently set as the quantity driver. If we return to the grid, we can see the values reflected here. To add quantity items in bulk, you can export a template using the export button, fill it out, and then import the sheet using the import button with a null quantity item ID. In the audit log, you can check the import status to see if there are any errors.
Well, that's how to add quantity items in the quantity forecasting module in InEight Design. Thanks for watching.
