Welcome to InEight Design. This video demonstrates how to update quantities in the quantity forecasting module. When populating your quantity items in the system, the budget starts unlocked. When design work starts, the budget needs to be locked Here.
This helps you see what was originally estimated versus any scope change during a project. In the grid, you can see specific design stages set out. These may be different in your environment, as they can be configured in organization settings to what is relevant to your business. Design stages allow you to keep up to date estimates of quantities to help you know where your budget is at, even though the design is not yet complete.
A quantity can be defined for each stage. Setting the quantity driver designates which design stage drives that quantity Items forecast quantity, and will be marked with a blue pushpin. You can set the quantity driver within the slide out of the quantity item via the grid or in bulk using the export slash import buttons. If you are utilizing plan, the component quantity can be selected as a quantity driver after design complete is selected on a quantity item.
Further along the grid, you'll see a quick overview of columns with formulas for each quantity item. Color coded numbers indicate whether a forecast takeoff quantity is above or below the current budget, so you can manage your ongoing budget. Should a growth or reduction in design scope occur and you want to log the change, within the actions menu, select quantity change notes. Here you can enter a note with a cause code for the change and add a tag.
