Video - InEight Model - User Management

TRANSCRIPT

In InEight model, administrators can create and manage users from the account manager.

To add a new user, click on the User icon.

Notice that in addition to their user information, you can select their user type from the first dropdown menu.

The default user type is Standard, but you can choose from Admin, Standard or Read-only. Let's look at their permissions.

Admin can create and manage users, groups, projects, and publishing. Standard users cannot create groups or projects, but can work in and edit their assigned projects and save or publish edits.

Read Only users can work in their assigned project, but cannot create, save or publish any changes. Select a user type and click OK.

New users will receive an email with a hyperlink and login information to activate their accounts.

You can also edit or delete a user from the account manager.

By selecting a user from the Users and Groups list, the Edit and Delete icons will now be available to you. Right click on a user to reset their password, disable them, or resend an activation email.

On the right side of the Account Manager window, there's a User Group column where you can create groups to manage users. Select the Group icon and name your new group. Then use the left or right arrows to add or remove users from that group.

Notice there's already a group named All Users. This is a default group that will automatically add any new users you create under your account. To modify or delete your user group, select your group from the list and the Edit and Delete icons are now available to you.

With users and user groups created, you're ready to assign users to your projects.

On the Account Manager, click on the Project Permissions tab.

Select one or multiple users or user groups and assign them to a project on the right. Unassign user or user group by simply selecting them within the project, then select the left arrow.

Notice that every project has Read Access and Write Access options.

You can select these to set broad permissions for the project.

These permissions affect user types who would otherwise be free to read or write over a project.

For instance, if a standard or admin user is assigned a Read Only access, they will only have the Read Access to that project. Note that if a Read Only User type is assigned a project with Write Access, they will still only have Read Only rights to that project.
