Organization Breakdown Structure - OBS

This video demonstrates creating an organization breakdown structure or OBS in the InEight suite.

The OBS shows the company's hierarchy, such as the regions and divisions your organization is broken into.

Creating Projects in the OBS

Projects can then be created and assigned to the appropriate area of the structure.

The OBS also manages access based on hierarchy.

The user's role determines access and visibility.

Higher roles have more permissions and broader views, while project level roles can't view other projects or admin pages.

For the main menu, select all projects and organizations.

Adding Sub Organizations in the OBS

Click the organization tab. Where we can define our organizational breakdown structure.

To add a new sub organization, Click the plus icon here.

This opens the add organization page where you can input the required organization details.

Add a parent organization by typing in the name here.

Then include the name, description, and ID for external systems integration.

This ID cannot be edited once it is set.

Click save when done.

Here, we see the sub organization we just added.

Repeat the same steps to add more.

To quickly find the newly created sub organization, use the search filter here.

Editing and Removing Organizations in the OBS

To edit an organization in the OBS, first select an organization.

And click the edit icon here.

To remove an organization from the OBS, select the organization and click the delete icon.

Adding Projects to the OBS

We can now add a project to the appropriate section of our structure.

Let's select the projects tab.

This opens the project page.

Click the plus icon to add the project.

For this example, let's fill in the required details.

On the organization drop down menu, we'll select the appropriate organization we created to assign the new project to.

When done, click save.

The new project is added and assigned to the correct sub organization.

Another way to quickly view the created organization and projects in the OBS is first to select the organization.

Then click the show information icon here.

A slide out panel opens that displays the organization details.

The details include the number of projects contained in the organization.

Click the number to show the assigned projects.
