TRANSCRIPT

Welcome to InEight Schedule.

This video demonstrates how to create and update a new schedule.

We'll go through the steps to create a new schedule and utilize planning mode to update milestones and work packages.

As well as the different methods you have available to add new milestones and work packages.

Starting from the project list menu, click add new schedule here.

You then assign the schedule a unique ID, name the schedule, select a project workspace, define a start date for the schedule, provide an estimated duration.

Define default calendar working days, dictate whether you want to estimate cost on this project and key in the initial high level estimated cost.

Clicking next brings you to the context screen.

Where you can define parameters that will help an age schedule normalized durations on this schedule, and make more informed suggestions for individual activities and packages within this project. This is optional, but it helps InEight Schedule understand the project.

After you've filled in the fields, continue to the outline tab by clicking next.

In the outline tab, you can define a project from the library to utilize as a starting point.

These projects can be suggested by any team members using InEight Schedule and verified and approved by your system administrator.

For example, select the commercial building project as your starting point.

After selecting the knowledge library project, you can decide whether you want to include the risk register from source schedule and select or deselect individual schedule elements for inclusion.

Clicking on the include levels drop down enables you to select schedule element based on the level.

Everything from the level that you select will be used by default.

You can further refine your selection by clicking on individual elements to gray them out. Indicating they are no longer selected for the project.

Once you're finished, click create to create your project.

Now that we've created our plan, we're going to take a look at making changes to the plan's high level structure.

To do this, turn on planning mode from your schedule settings here.

This will enable planning mode, allowing us to freely update planning packages and milestones while not adding new activities.

In this mode, I can change the ordering of activities and milestones by dragging and dropping the line item.

I could also update activity length by selecting the desired row and dragging the start or end date.

Or by viewing suggestions in my smart planning slide out and selecting the desired duration from the options presented from other schedules.

In addition to editing existing packages and milestones, we can utilize planning mode to create additional items, This can be accomplished in two ways.

The first is to simply select the icon in the actions menu to create a new planning package or a new milestone.

This will generate a new line, which rolls up into the original.

The second method we can utilize is the detail out functionality.

Selecting detail out will bring up a new menu, allowing us to dictate the quantity of new work packages to be created and if these occur in parallel or in succession.

We can also define the duration of the new work packages manually or automatically and let the system know whether we'd like to apply scheduling logic to the new lines created.

Once finished, don't forget to turn on scheduling mode. To enable editing and creation of detail activities.

Well, that's how to create and update a project in InEight Schedule. Thanks for watching.
