This video demonstrates how to add detail to a plan.
Start by selecting a planning package.
When selecting a package, ensure you click on a piece of information other than the description, to avoid editing the description text.
In this example, I'll select the construction planning package.
Before moving on, let's examine the inference engine and how an eight schedule makes its suggestions.
Click smart planning under the iris tab to see inmates schedule suggestions.
These are pulled based on similarities in the description and knowledge tags.
The strength of a suggestion can be seen as a bar directly under the description's description.
Hovering over a suggestion strength indicator shows the innate schedule suggestion analysis.
Next, let's review the two methods available to create activities.
The first is the click to create activity icon in the actions menu.
This creates a single activity under our selected item. The second is to utilize knowledge subnets.
To use knowledge subnets, first identify the innate schedule suggestion to be used. Then Click the import knowledge subnet button here.
Clicking on the import knowledge subnet directs you to a menu that allows you to merge the knowledge library hierarchy with your current plan.
This is where you can define which portions of the selected work breakdown structure, WBS, you want to include in the project.
With the option to keep all defaults or manually unselect areas.
You can also import the native durations, ultimately changing the duration of the work package in your current plan or having a schedule fit the packages or activities into the existing planning package duration.
After making any necessary adjustments, click the preview button to proceed.
InEight Schedule merges the knowledge library schedule hierarchy in plan section and presents it for preview. If the merge has the expected results, commit the changes to the plan by clicking Yes.
Additional changes can be made to the preview before committing or pull the merge out completely by clicking No.
You are also able to add a WBS summary activity to your plan. A WBS summary will allow the tracking of resources at the WBS level. Add a summary to any WBS from the actions menu.
You can now add resources to the summary and if you increase or decrease the duration of a portion of your WBS.
The WBS summary activity will dynamically update.
Using the WBS summary activities will also allow you to create the hierarchy of activities needed to match the structure of imported XER files.
To change the type of an activity, click here to select another activity type from the drop down list.
Note changing activity type could cause activity elements to be deleted.
Well, that's how to add detail to a plan. Thanks for watching.
