Video - InEight Schedule - Snapshot Overview

TRANSCRIPT

This video gives you an overview of snapshots in InEight Schedule.

From the Schedule Plan View, click here to open the baseline/snapshot management panel.

The top section of the panel shows what active baseline, snapshots, or schedule have been selected.

The bottom of the panel shows a color coded metric table that shows a side by side comparison between the current schedule, active baseline, and available snapshots.

The first panel is automatically selected since this project workspace has an active baseline assigned.

But if the project has not set an active baseline, or you want to assign another schedule as the active baseline for comparison, you can do so here.

If the active baseline is changed, the comparison table will update automatically.

To revert to the project baseline in the active baseline slot, just click revert to default.

There are two ways to fill in the snapshot slots with The first way is to click set snapshot, and all information from the current schedule will be loaded into the snapshot slot as a copy.

The second way is to click assign schedule.

Then select a schedule from the same project workspace from the drop down, and all information from the selected schedule will be loaded.

Once a snapshot has been loaded, you can overwrite a snapshot.

Promote a snapshot as a new schedule to the project list if it was created from a copying.

Edit the name of a snapshot or unassign/delete a snapshot.

Once a snapshot is loaded, the information on the snapshot cannot be edited, and will remain unless the snapshot is unassigned or deleted.

If a snapshot was created using a schedule, then the schedule will automatically be locked at the project list page, and the schedule will need to be unassigned from the snapshot to become unlocked.

Once snapshots have been created, you can also see a visual representation of the snapshots in the gantt chart here.

You can also select which snapshots to show by the toggles in the view options menu.

Here, you can turn on the histogram for the project.

Then toggle here to turn on comparison mode

Now the histogram compares resources rolled up to the category type. And shows you resources as they trend for the baseline, snapshots and the current estimate.

Well, that's an overview of snapshots.

Thanks for watching.
