Create Budget from Conformed Estimate
Use Case
A project team has an approved estimate for a new engineering-procurement-construction contract. A member of the project team is tasked with preparing the estimate to be used as the project budget.
This section covers how to conform an estimate in InEight Estimate and then publish it to InEight Control to be used as the project budget.
Ideas on Site
Prior to publishing the estimate, a project must be created and set up in the system. If your company uses an integration with your ERP system, the new project will originate from there. If not, you will follow your internal process for creating a new project directly in the InEight platform.
Once created, project setup includes:
-
Making the project active and verifying project details
-
Adjusting Project Settings based on project needs for each InEight module (e.g. Control, Plan, Progress)
-
Assigning users, employees, and equipment to the project

Consult your company’s internal processes for additional details.
Conform and Publish Estimate
Your estimate may not be organized exactly as work to be executed in the field. In this case, you can conform your estimate to a structure that is consistent with how the work will be performed and measured. Some common strategies for conforming the estimate include:
-
Summarizing the estimate details into logical work groupings
-
Breaking the estimate structure down into more detail, such as by area
-
Aligning the estimate data with an Account Code structure
-
Conforming major materials from Resources in Estimate to Cost Items in Control

Once your estimate is conformed, it is ready to be published. Follow the steps below to publish an entire Estimate job to InEight Control.
Publishing an estimate to a new project in Control will remove all cost items, pay items, and change orders that previously existed in the project when the project is re-imported.
Step 1
In Estimate, open the job you want to publish.
Step 3
A confirmation dialogue box appears when the job data is sent to Platform. Select OK.
