InEight Contract - Add a Bid Package

TRANSCRIPT

From the bid packages page, you can add bid packages manually or import bid packages from an Excel template. To access bid packages, go to the navigation bar and from the second level menu, select contract bid packages. You have now opened the bid packages register. To add a bid package, manually click the plus icon on the left toolbar.

The add bid package window appears where you can fill out the bid package details. Notice that some fields have an asterisk next to them. This indicates fields you must have filled out prior to moving on to the next screen. The description field provides a brief overview of the bid package, which will show up in your reports.

For the description, type structural steel. The type field is for information used for grouping bid packages in your reports. Select permanent material. The discipline field is the area of specialty for your bid package.

In this case, select metals. Leave the currency at US dollars. The kickoff date is the date you'll issue your bid package to bidders or convert it to a contract. The project delivery date, or needed by date is the date when you actually need products delivered or services performed.

The package scope field contains information regarding the overall breadth of your bid package. Enter structural steel material for modules one through 15. Lastly, the risk field contains the liability level of your bid package. In this case, select medium risk.

Click next. This moves you to the next window where you can input your budget values. The original base value is the amount from your estimate, Enter $12, 744, 227. The contingency in estimate, is a provision for incidental or unforeseen costs.

Type 10,000. The escalation and estimate is an anticipated increase in the estimate. This usually represents the increase from when it was originally estimated and when buyout occurs. Leave this at zero.

The un-awarded adjustment value is any amount from the original estimate, which will not be included now, but that you want to contract. For example, you may want to award only a portion of the work to a sub now, but plan to award the remaining amount later. By putting the un- awarded amount in this field, you can still account for the cost, even though it's not yet awarded. The owner change amount is the amount discussed for an owner change.

For this example, leave both the un-awarded adjustment and owner change amount fields at zero. Note that you must have the original base value field filled in as it's required to submit the bid package into the register. Once you've filled out the necessary values for the bid package, click submit. The bid package has been added.

After clicking submit, you're brought to the overview tab with summary header information at the top of the page. How to use this page is covered in lesson 4.3. To return to the bid package register, click the bid packages link in the breadcrumbs at the top left of the screen. You can now see your bid package in the register.
