You can use the Bid Wizard to create new projects or add to existing ones, by copying data that already exists in other jobs. Rather than copying every part of an existing job, the Bid Wizard gives you flexibility and control over which parts of a job you want to duplicate. From Setup, open the Bid Wizard folder with the Create New Job radio button selected, and the new code field. Enter 1000 BW.
In the description field, enter Bid Wizard example, then click Next. On step 2, the first option allows you to duplicate Pay Items. The second option only allows you to bring in cost items. Choose the Select Cost Items option and then click Next.
The bid wizard gives you the option to bring in your setup data and resources, either from the library or from a source job. Select Copy from Source Job for the Job Properties, foundation, set up data, unassigned cost items, and markup and workbook. Uncheck Copy Markup since you'll be calculating the markup yourself in the new job. Click Next.
Select the source job you wish to copy. Notice how by default, the "include" option is left unchecked. You can then select the items you want to copy into your new job. You can also select Toggle Include All to include all of the selected cost items.
Click on the Filter icon under Tag 2, and select "bridge". Select cost items 10 and 11. Notice when you select these two cost items, it automatically selects their subordinates underneath. Click Finish.
An attention prompt appears asking if you want to adjust the pay item rules and shift arrangements of the copied items. Select to adjust them to match the destination, and then click OK. Your new project is created. Open the CBS Register to see the cost items you copied into the new job.
