TRANSCRIPT

Accessing the Library Resource Rate Register

To access the Library Resource Rate Register from the Backstage view, select Library from the side menu. When the library opens, select the Setup tab and then select the Resource Rates icon to open the Library Resource Rates Register. Explore the owned equipment resources by clicking on the Construction Equipment tab. Notice this represents the fleet of equipment you'd use to do the work such as dozers, graders, excavators, trucks, and cranes.

Filtering and Managing Equipment Resources

You can filter down your resources by clicking the Filter icon on the Resource File Description column, and selecting Standard Equipment Rate File, then clicking OK. To open an Equipment Resource record, right-click on the row header for Asphalt Paver and select Open. You can expand the cost category breakdown to enter costs under ownership categories or operation. On the right-hand side, the Tip bubble explains that fuel cost is currently being defined by factoring the consumption rate with the cost defined for that fuel type in the Fuel Cost tab of the Library Job Properties.

You can override this by entering the fuel cost manually on this record. In this case enter $20. The Setup tab for this equipment resource is the same as on other resources. Click OK to close the record.

Adding and Managing Equipment Resources

To add new construction equipment resources, click on the Actions menu and you would click on the New icon. You can also have rented equipment resources. Create a new rented equipment resource by clicking on the Rented Construction Equipment tab. This represents the equipment resources you use to do the work, but that you don't own.

Creating New Rented Equipment Resources

Click on the Actions menu, then click on the New icon. Notice there's now a Quote tab available for getting vendor quotes. In the Code field, enter "RECR110", then press Tab. In the Description field type "crane 110 ton."

Setting Up Rental Rates and Charges

On the Setup tab, select "standard rental rate file" from the Resource File drop-down list. Select "crane" for the Organizational Category drop-down list, click back to the Charge Rate tab. Let's assume the cost for this crane is $4,000 per week, but equipment resources must have an hourly rate. On the right, you'll notice a calculator for calculating non hourly period charge rates.

Calculating Non-Hourly Period Charge Rates

When you check the box, you receive an attention prompt telling you that using this calculator will set any cost you already had defined for this resource back to zero. That's okay, so you can click OK. For Period, select "weekly". For Amount Per Period type 4,000, then 20 in the Hours Per Period field.

Notice that your rented equipment amount is now $200. Click OK to close and save the record.
