Access the Library Resource Rate Register, you must open the InEight Estimate Library. To open the library from the backstage view, select Library from the side menu. You can also access the library from the Estimate landing page by clicking on the Library icon. When the Library opens, select the Setup tab and then select the Resource Rates icon to open the Library Resource Rates Register.

To create a labor resource, first click on the Labor tab. This tab houses all the labor resources for your company. Note that you can use the resource file description, organizational category, geographic area, and wage zone tags to label and organize your resources. To create a labor resource, select the Actions menu.

Then click on the New icon. This opens the Labor Rate Record. In the Code field type LMECH. Press the Tab key to move to the Description field.

Be sure not to press Enter as that will close the record. Instead, use the Tab key or click in the fields. In the Description field type "mechanic heavy duty." Click on the Setup tab of the record to add more information about this resource.

Select Standard Labor Rate File from the Resource File drop-down list. Select "Southwest" for the Geographic Area. Select "wage zone A" for the Wage Zone, and "mechanic" for the Organizational Category. Change the Default Quantity to 1.

This will be the default quantity used when the resource is added to an activity. Click on the Charge Rate tab. This is where you define the rate for the resource. Notice you have three scales to choose from.

These typically represent regular time pay, overtime pay, and double time, although you can use them for whatever you want. Click on Scale 1. You can expand your cost category breakdown to define labor base and burden, and your labor burden expands down to a very detailed level. Click on the Labor Base field and enter 52.

Under your labor fringes type $3 for pension and $2 for subsistence. On the right, you can use the Base Wage Factors to calculate overtime and double time wages for scales 2 and 3 automatically. Check the box to Use Base Wage Factors. Then enter 1.5

for the scale 2 factor and 2 for the scale 3 factor. Click on All Scales. Enter 1 in the Labor Premium field. This will apply to all scales, but the percentage will vary as indicated here.

Notice the blue arrow is pointing to the Amount field indicating that is where the value was entered. Click in the Percent field for premium and enter 5. Then press Tab. This now calculates 5% of the base wage for the amount, and the amount will now vary depending on the scale.
