TRANSCRIPT

In this video, we're going to discuss how to navigate within InEight Estimate. Estimate opens up to the backstage view. From here, you can open up a recent job or create a new one. The first section on the left side menu gives you the option to create a new job, open and save, and close a project, or close all open jobs.

From the second section, you can launch the library, open the register for all of your jobs, delete jobs, compare jobs, include jobs in the data warehouse, or perform a Primavera batch sync. Under the Create a New Job From... section, you can create a new job from scratch, from a template, an existing job, Bid Wizard, Archive, a Snapshot, Primavera, or by import. Under Archive / Restore, you can archive, merge, back up, and restore jobs and templates. In the last section, you can access system settings and customize options.

Your job opens to the default Cost Breakdown Structure register. When you first open a job in InEight Estimate, help bubbles will appear that contain important information to clarify key functions in the system. You can dismiss the message until the next time by closing it with the X in the corner or just dismiss it permanently by clicking the Never Offer This Help Again link. Under each tab, you can quickly access to forms and functions.

On the Setup tab, under the Initialize section, you can access Job Properties where you can enter information about a specific estimate. The Pay Item and Proposal Register is the list of bids for the contract that you'll be paid for. Note that the Pay Item and Proposal tab is now active and you are now on the Actions tab, which provides function specific to the form you are on. Let's go back to the Setup tab.

Under Initialize, the Bid Wizard helps automate the process of setting up estimates by copying information that already exists in other jobs. Under the Resources section, you can access the Resource Rate Register and Resource Assemblies Register. In these registers, you can modify the labor, equipment and material resources used for the project. Back on the Setup tab, under the Assembly section, you can create cost item assemblies and standard tables, or run the reports from the Report section.
