In this video, we'll cover how to save, preview and print Resource Rate Register reports in Estimate. At any time during your estimate, you can print a report of the data in the currently displayed register using the Print or Print Preview options available from the Actions tab. The data that prints is the data currently displayed on the register form. The report will print whatever columns are displayed on the register, and if you've customized the display in the register, the report prints that data.
In other words, register reports are entirely customizable. By creating saved views, you can report the data on a register form in several different variations. Let's go through an example of creating a custom register report on resource utilization and save it as a saved view. First, click on the Setup tab and select Labor to open the Labor tab of the Resource Rate register.
Click on the Saved Views drop-down and select the Print View For Summary view. In this view, you can see it includes utilization hours already. Let's add a few more columns by right-clicking on a column header and selecting Column Chooser. Add columns by dragging and dropping or double-clicking to add the following columns into the register: unit cost - scale 1, unit cost - scale 2, unit cost - scale 3, and maintenance man-hour factor Sort the Utilization Count column by clicking twice in the row header so that the bars are descending.
Now the most utilized resources are listed at the top. To save this new view, select the Saved View drop-down menu and click on the Save disk icon. Upon saving a view in any register, you have two options. You can select the option to save it as a locked corporate view, and then you can also select if you want to include the view in the Saved Views reports dialogue box.
In our case, we'll check both. From this same Actions menu, and since you now have this saved view, you can select Preview to review the report before printing. Note that a separate Preview dialogue window opens containing several options for customizing the report size, look and feel. In the Print Preview window using the Options icon, you can change all of these features and you have header and footer, scale, margins, orientation, and size options.
You can also change report colors and add watermarks such as confidential or draft. You have a variety of output options including PDF, HTML, Excel and Image file options... and you can send the report via email from this page as well. Because you also decided to save this as a locked corporate view, over on the Setup tab under Reports, you can now interact with this saved view at any time. You can modify print settings, customize the grid options, adjust the layout, or update the headers and footers.
You now have a report on labor resource utilization that you can print now or refer back to later. Thanks for watching.
