Video - InEight Estimate - Templates

TRANSCRIPT

As you build estimates, you have work types or disciplines that you typically work in, often involving the same or similar tasks from job to job. You may want to store these standard cost items in a template you can draw from for future projects. To access your templates and create new ones, select the File tab to go to the backstage view. Select Templates, then Template Register.

Here you can access any templates you've created to add to, or edit them. From here, you can create new templates from scratch, or you may want to get a headstart by creating a template from an existing job. Let's assume the Training job contains much of the work you typically do for small projects. On the New Template dialogue, name your new template "small project template" then click OK.

You've now created a new template to draw from, and it resides in a Template Register, separate from the job stored in your Job Register,. Let's say you need to start a new estimate. Go back to the backstage view and select New. You have several options available for creating a new job.

This estimate is a smaller project and you know it contains much of the same work as your "small project template." Select Template and select the "small project template" then click OK. On the resulting dialogue, enter the code for the new job. Click OK, and the new job is created from your template.
