Video - InEight Estimate - Working with Registers

TRANSCRIPT

In this video, you'll take a closer look at the forms in Estimate called Registers. In each register, you can move, sort, filter, and group your columns to view the information the way you need to see it. You can move a column from one place to another by dragging and dropping it where you would like it. Move a column by dragging it to the left and dropping it next to the Description column.

Unneeded columns on the register can be hidden from a view. Hide a column by dragging the column header down until a black X appears. And then let go. To un-hide a column, right-click on any column header and select Column Chooser from the drop-down list.

From the Column Chooser, select any hidden column you would like to appear on the display. Select a column and drag and drop it to the right of another column. Another option to un-hide a column or to find a column is by right-clicking to the column header and selectingg Go To Column. From the drop-down menu, select the column to unhide, such as Account Code, and then click OK.

The register will either add the column or jump to where the last column is within the register. You can sort and filter columns to drill down to specific information. Click on a column to sort the column in ascending order. Click on the same column again to sort in descending order.

To un-sort a column, click on the column header while pressing the CTRL key and it will return to its original state. To filter, click on any columns Filter icon and select how you'd like to filter it. For example, click Unit of Measure's, Filter icon and select "ton", and then click Close. To clear the filter, you can click on the X below or click on the filter and select All.

You can group columns to organize your information. For example, to group your Units of Measure, select a unit of measure column and drag it into the Grouping Area. The Find feature allows you to search across all columns with a single search. For example, by typing in the word "install" you can see all occurrences for the word "install" appear.

Once your register's view is set up, you can save it so you won't have to configure it again later. Saved views help you organize the screen the way you want to see it. To save your own view, click on the Save View drop-down menu. Then select the Save Disk icon, enter the view name, and then click OK.

Your view is now saved for future use.
