Video - InEight Estimate - Working with Registers

TRANSCRIPT

In this video, we'll take a closer look at the forms in Estimate called registers. In each register, you can move, sort, filter, and group your columns to view the information the way you need to see it. You can move a column from one place to another, by dragging and dropping it where you'd like it. Move a column by dragging it to the left and dropping it next to the description column.

Moving and Hiding Columns

Unneeded columns on the register can be hidden from a view. Hide a column by dragging the column header down until a black X appears, and then let go. To unhide a column, right-click on any column header and select Column Chooser from the drop-down list. From the Column Chooser, select any hidden column you'd like to appear on the display. Then drag and drop it into position.

Unhiding Columns

Another option to unhide a column or to find a column, is by right-clicking on a column header, and selecting Go To Column. For the drop-down menu, select the column to unhide, and then click Okay. The register will either add the column, or jump to where the last column is within the register.

Sorting and Filtering Columns

You can sort and filter columns to drill down to specific information. Click on a column to sort that column in ascending order. Click on the same column again to sort it in descending order. To unsort a column, click on the column header while pressing the CTRL key, and it will return to its original state. To filter, click on any column's filter icon, and select how you'd like to filter it. For example, click Unit of Measure's Filter icon, and select "ton", and then click Close. To clear the filter, you can click on the X below, or click on the filter, and select Clear Filter.

Grouping

You can group columns to organize your information. For example, to group your unit of measure, select the column, and drag it into the grouping area.

Using the Find Feature

The Find feature allows you to search across all columns with a single search. For example, by typing in the word "install", you can see all occurrences for the word.

Selecting Multiple Rows and Subtotal

Available on all standard grids, you can also select multiple rows in a register and see the total amount of the rows at the bottom of the register. When items are selected with the same unit of measure, this symbol shows in the Subtotal row, to indicate it's the total of the selected rows.

Saving Views

Once your registers view is set up, you can save it, so you won't have to configure it again later. Saved views help you organize the screen the way you want to see it. To save your own view, click on the Save View drop-down menu. Then, select the Save disk icon. Enter the view name and then click OK. Your view is now saved for future use. Thanks for watching.
