Add Work Orders to a Daily Plan

TRANSCRIPT

Welcome to InEight Progress. In this video, you'll learn how to add operational and maintenance work orders to a daily plan.

Operational Work Orders

A daily plan captures the tasks, labor, and resources needed to complete work for the day. While daily plans are usually prepared for work crews, you may also have employees completing operational maintenance tasks. These employees may handle a variety of operational work orders and have tasks that change from day to day.

You can track time at the work order level on a daily plan. To get started, open the Time Sheet tab on a daily plan. Click the white tile to add employee hours for a task.

In the Work Order field, type a general name for this employee's work orders. This will be the default work order for this time card. Note that if you have a work package associated with your daily plan, this can also be selected from this field.

Click the Plus icon to add work hours. Based on your organization's needs, you may select a general reason code or a code more specific to the task. Input the hours for one operational work order.

Now the work order will be tracked with these hours. Add a new row for each work order.

You can override the default work order by clicking on the Work Order icon. This allows you to input a more specific task for a work order.

When you're finished, click Done. These details will now be tracked with the daily plan.

Maintenance Work Orders

Once the daily plan is submitted, the work order details will be visible in Time Center.

In addition to operational work orders, you may also want to track maintenance hours performed on your equipment through maintenance work orders. To track maintenance hours, first make sure your settings are configured to display maintenance in daily planning. This setting is found on the Progress tab under organization settings.

With your settings enabled, open the Time Sheet tab of your daily plan. To add a new maintenance-related task, click [the Add maintenance button].

You can add maintenance in two ways. For regular planned maintenance, you can add the task by work order. First, select the equipment.

On the right panel, you'll see the work orders that have been set up for equipment item in your ERP system. Select the work order you want to add and click Done.

Now the new task appears on your Time Sheet tab. Click the white tile to add employee hours for this task. Note the equipment item is not available for this task, since it's the object of the work order.

While some tasks fall under regular maintenance milestones and can be planned through work orders, others may come up as unplanned maintenance or repair.

You can add maintenance hours by cost code to track a task that is not set up through a work order. First, select the equipment. Then, select the appropriate cost center.

A list of available tasks appears [under Tasks]. Select your tasks and click Done.

A new maintenance task appears on your time sheet. Now you can track maintenance hours against this specific task. Note that these hours will be tracked separately from the direct work for that task.

Now you've learned how to add work orders to a daily plan. Thanks for watching!
