• Removed option to add new workspaces - Because a workspace is automatically added and linked to the project when a new project is created in InEight Platform, the option Add new project workspace has been removed from the Add menu on the projects list page. Read more

  In Release 25.3, the workspace labeled None that was created as a temporary location for schedules not associated with a project will be removed. Prior to the workspace being removed, an InEight representative will contact impacted clients to help them transition any existing schedules to a new workspace.

• SIP view multi-select steps and Snap To function – In SIP view, a new icon and function was added that lets you select multiple SIP steps in an activity and move them horizontally to a new date on the timeline. Previously, to move steps you would have to move each step individually. For more information, see SIP General Navigation. Read more

  After you select the steps to move in the activity, click the Snap To icon to open the dialog box. Click in the Snap to Start Date field to open the calendar, and then select a new start date. In the Include column, the toggle lets you change whether to exclude a step that you originally selected.

  

  After selecting the new start date, click Preview to show an overlay of the steps with the new start date. You can save the changes in the preview or click Back to close the preview and open the Snap To dialog box to make additional changes as needed.

  

• Grouping, sorting, and filtering new behavior in views – When you group, sort, or filter in either Plan view, Markup view, or Schedule Review view, those changes in the views are now retained even when you leave a page, and then return to the page later. Previously, if you applied any grouping, sorting, or filtering in your views the configuration would revert to the default configuration once you left the page.

• Drag and drop multiple activities to a new WBS – In Plan view, you can now select multiple activity types to move, and then click to drag them into a different area in the WBS.

• Linked workspaces to new InEight Platform projects - When a new project is created in Platform, a workspace in Schedule is automatically added and linked to the project, instead of having to add it manually. For more information, see Project List View. Read more

  In addition, the projects list has been separated into individual pages of 50 projects per page for usability and enhanced performance. This change includes a page index that lets you click through the pages instead of having to scroll through the entire list of projects on a single page.

  

• Multi-select activities in Plan view – In Plan view, you can now select multiple activity types that you want to copy, cut, or delete in the schedule. Select multiple activities, and then either select from the Actions menu or use the standard shortcut keys on the keyboard to perform the action. Read more

• Schedule and InEight Estimate integration - Integration between Schedule and Estimate products lets you import and synchronize Estimate cost items into a schedule as WBS or Activities. The schedule can then be updated, and the resulting updated WBS and Activities can be synchronized back into Estimate providing updated dates. Read more

  In your Estimate job’s CBS, you can mark your items as scheduled, and if you want to roll up those items. For example, you can select Civil and Piping Systems as shown in the image below.

  

  With the scheduled items selected in Estimate, in Schedule you can add a new schedule to the workspace project linked with your estimate using the Add new schedule from Estimate function.

  

  After the new schedule is created, you can then start to add activity relation logic to your items to schedule the job.

  

  In Estimate, you can sync the Schedule updates with your Estimate job using the Update Estimate from InEight Schedule function. The Estimate job is updated with Schedule’s activity relation logic changes.

  

  In Schedule, you can update changes made to your Estimate job, such as updating roll-up selections, using the Update Schedule From Estimate function in Schedule.

  

  Total cost values from Estimate also integrate with Schedule. This lets you conduct cost risk analysis based on the risk and opportunities in the estimate process.

  

  On the Cost Risk page, you can import cost risk items from the Schedule WBS structure created through the Estimate integration and start running cost risk simulations for management review.

• Sync user admin permissions – When a user in the InEight cloud platform has their permissions updated or a new role is added with administrator permissions (Level 2 or Level 3), then the Administrator permissions are automatically assigned to the corresponding Schedule user.

• Session timeout – Schedule now complies with the session timeout setting that is configured in InEight cloud platform organization > Settings > General > Global Options. When the Session timeout toggle is set to ON, users are automatically signed out when the specified time is exceeded. By default, the Session timeout toggle is set to OFF.

• InEight Plan Advanced Work Package data sharing – The availability of AWP data from Plan is now determined by the Advanced work and scheduling features toggle in InEight cloud platform > project > Settings > General > Global Options. You must verify the toggle is set to ON for any existing projects using the AWP feature to ensure continued operation with Schedule. By default, the Advanced work and scheduling features toggle is set to OFF.

• Plan view Microsoft Excel template – The Plan view import and export Excel template now includes a new Planning Packages tab.

Cost Risk and Schedule Review

• Monte Carlo simulation performance improvements - The maximum number of schedule simulations in the Schedule Review has increased from 2,000 to 5,000 simulations. Read more

  Other performance improvements have been made that include an acceleration in the process runtime, and other process improvements associated to performance adjustments for managing the progression of very large schedules.

  

Plan

• Resource histogram is now dynamic based on any applied query - The group, sort, and query Builder menu filters now automatically apply to the resource histogram graph. Read more

  When you apply one or more queries to any of the Builder menus, the results now show immediately on the Resource histogram when the Resource histogram is enabled in View Options.

  

Short Interval Planning

• SIP Search - The search results are no longer restricted by the filter Builder Menus. Read more

  The SIP search has been expanded to find results outside of what exists in any of the filter Builder menus. Previously, if you had any active filters, the search would not find results outside of the filtered data.

  

Schedule Navigation

• Schedule Navigation - When you navigate from a specific project in the InEight cloud platform and click Schedule, Schedule now opens to the selected project’s workspace. Previously, when you clicked Schedule, Schedule would open to a list, and you would have to select the project. Read more

• Deltek Acumen file formats - The Deltek Acumen import and export file formats have been updated to accommodate additional risk ranges.

Project List Page

• Advanced folder structure - You can now create and manage multiple project folders inside of a workspace to better organize your schedules. Read more

  Schedule project folders act as storage containers that help you group similar schedules into manageable repositories.

  

  You can create up to three levels of folders to organize your schedules into, conditional upon how you want to build out the hierarchy of your folder structures.

  

  When you import schedules, there is a Folder drop-down list where you can select the folder to place the schedule into.

  

  You can move schedules into specified folders. Previously, you could only move a schedule into a selected project workspace.

New SIP builder menus

• New SIP builder menus - You can now run advanced grouping, sorting, and query filters on multiple columns and then save them as personal views. You can reuse them in your assigned projects in the Schedule SIP views. Read more

  Menu builder icons show when there are existing saved views. The enhanced search functions are available for all group by and sort builders.

  

  • Column set builder menu – The Column set builder menu lets you add and remove columns.

    

    You can choose available columns in the Column set builder to create customized column page layouts.

    

  • Query builder menu - The Query builder menu lets you set column filters.

    

    You can choose available columns in the Query builder to create customized page layout query.

    

  • Sort builder menu - The Sort builder menu lets you sort columns.

    

    You can choose up to ten columns to sort in ascending or descending order in the column typeahead lookup fields.

    

  • Group by builder menu - The Group by builder menu lets you group columns.

    

    Prior to this enhancement, you could only group by WBS. You can now choose to group by one column or multiple columns. The column fields are now also typeahead lookup fields which make it faster to find and filter through the various column names.

    

  • View builder menu - The View builder menu lets you combine columns from the other builder menus.

    

    The View Builder lets you choose multiple columns from any of the builder menu columns. The chosen builder menus are highlighted on the toolbar.

View row numbers in SIP

• View row numbers in SIP - A Row Numbers toggle had been added to the View Options menu, which lets you add a row column to the SIP schedule. Read more

View Options

• Hide No Results - In View Options, the Hide No Results toggle has been added that lets you hide WBS items that do not return any results. Read more

  The new Hide No Results toggle lets you hide any WBS groupings on the Plan page that do not yield any results.

Project Risk Register

• Project Register Matrix number ranges - The number of ranges in the Project Register Matrix has been increased from seven to nine so you can see additional attributes available for events, and the values available when entering data for an event. Read more

• Project Matrix Opportunity Color scale - The Opportunity Color column was added in the Project Register Matrix, which shows a blue scale to help differentiate various opportunities. The Opportunity Color scheme shows throughout the application where opportunities are presented. Read more

For example, in the Project Register Events page, the Opportunity in the second row shows three different color ranges that are associated with the Opportunity Description in the Project Register Matrix.

The Opportunity ranges one through nine (Ultra High to Ultra Low) and the blue color scale is also visible in the Mitigation page for opportunities.

• Risk Register Schedule import - The Schedule Microsoft Excel import format has been updated to accept new Risk Register ranges. Read more

Plan

• Float Paths - In the Schedule Plan settings, you can now calculate up to 10 sub-critical paths. Read more

  This helps you to better envision the activities that have a potential of being delayed, which gives you additional time and consideration to push out the schedule. You can choose to execute certain actions such as defining the critical activities by using either free float or total float, select an activity to stop showing multiple float paths, and determine the number of float paths to calculate.

  

  To see the float paths in plan , you can group by float path in the Group By Builder to see which activities are critical and sub-critical, and the float path where they reside.

Printing

• Printing - You can now customize your output options when using the Go to print view. Read more

  Select the Go to Print view to modify the Page Setup, Gantt Setup, or Save to a PDF options. You can select from several paper sizes, choose between a landscape or portrait layout, modify the page scaling, and include headers, footers, and logos to one or all pages.

  

  The Gantt chart tab lets you customize the Gantt Start and End dates and change the timescale, the options to hide the Gantt chart, or show the histogram.

Risk Register

• New Project register events column - The Cost column is now added to the Risk register’s Project register events tab. Read more

  The Count column shows a count of events in the Cost Risk view and shows you the Event information in a new window.

  

Cost Risk

• Cost Risk view - Existing register events are now retained when you import using the Schedule XLSX import file.

Schedule Review

* This enhancement is only available in the 23.12.1 release and later *

• Markup Updates - You can now accept markup updates to remaining duration and start/finish dates directly without having to run a simulation first.

• Performance improvements - Performance modifications have been made to the back end services to improve the performance and resiliency of the system.

• IRIS change activity type - You can now select an Activity Type in the plan schedule and change it from one type to another in fewer steps. A new drop-down menu lets you more easily change an activity type without having to leave the page. Read more
  
  

Prior to this new enhancement you could only change the activity type by navigating to the Actions menu, and you had to first create the activity type, then delete the original. You can now access the Activity Type by selecting an activity from the new Activity Type drop-down menu.

• SIP histogram – The SIP histogram now displays resources with zero units assigned. Read more

  Previously if the resource had zero units it would be suppressed from the SIP histogram. Now, those resources are shown in Schedule > SIP.

• Schedule integration with Project Suite - The Schedule integration to Project Suite has moved to the Project List view under the Project Suite column. Read more

The integration with Project Suite has been built primarily for the Project Suite migration. For new users or non-connected workspaces, you can now navigate to the Project List page, select a workspace and link a project. You can then select a project in Project Suite to connect and link a project schedule in Schedule.



When linked, the Project Suite field becomes populated with a selected project.



When you go to AWP, you now see Plan and Progress data in that schedule.



When a project schedule is identified as an Active Update Schedule Type, it becomes the Project Suite connected schedule.



An InEight icon shows next to the project schedule name to signify that the schedule is now linked with a project in Project Suite.



Unlink a Project Suite project

You can select Unlink project to disconnect a Project suite project from Schedule. All the AWP associations will be deleted, and any changes cannot be undone.



• New histogram comparison mode view – In View Options, you can now view the histogram in comparison mode, when enabled. Read more

  

  When the Comparison mode toggle is set to On, the baselines and snapshots that exist in the Baseline/Snapshot Management show as a graph with the current baseline. The histogram compares resources rolled up to the category type and shows you resources as they trend.

  Each line in the graph represents a baseline, snapshot, and the current estimate.

  

  The histogram graph can now also be shown in units and burn rate.

  

  You can also view the histogram with an S-Curve that shows you a cumulative trend line for each baseline, snapshot and current.

  

• Excel Export type now localized in Norwegian – The Plan view for Export Excel type is now localized in Norwegian. Read more

  

    

• Baseline enhancements - There are multiple baseline enhancements.

  • New schedule types - New schedule types have been added to the Schedule home page. Read more

    The schedule type list has been expanded to include Active Estimate, Inactive Estimate, Active Baseline, Inactive Baseline, Inactive Update, and Planned in the Schedule type drop-down list.

    

    Each schedule type shows a corresponding color scheme in the Gantt chart.

    

  • Locked columns – Schedules with a schedule type of Active Baseline now automatically lock. Read more

    The active baseline schedule type now automatically locks the schedule and converts it into a read-only state, which includes the Gantt grid, all Iris fields, and the Import icon. The locked read only state is applied to all views and impacts any functionality that involves the changing of data.

    

    Active baselines are contractual schedule agreements between contractors and owners with infrequent changes. Some scenarios require active baselines to never change, which requires the active baseline to become locked.

    The Risk register and Manage Review Cycle views are also in a locked and view only state, but data can still be exported from the Risk register.

    

    The Markup and Schedule Review views are disabled when the project is in a read-only state.

    

  • Baseline/Snapshot management panel – The snapshot management panel has been redesigned to better show you schedule changes throughout the project life cycle. Read more

    The active baseline and any available snapshots are now in a grid format, and a new color-coded metric table has been added, so you can see a comparison between the current schedule, active baseline, and available snapshots.

    

    You can also assign other schedules that are part of the same project workspace as the current schedule to your active baseline and snapshots using the assign schedule function.

    

    Select Revert to default to return to the previously assigned defaulted schedule.

    

      

  • New Gantt grid bars – The Active Baseline variance column has been added to the view options menu template for tabular comparisons. Read more

    New grid bars have been added to the Gantt chart. The images below show what the Gantt chart illustrates when the active baseline is turned off and then on.

    

  • Additional baseline columns in view template – Six new baseline columns have been added to the baseline view template. Read more

    The six new baseline columns are now shown in the Gantt chart and grid. Baseline columns added similar to snapshot columns for comparison purposes.

    The new columns are Baseline Actual Finish, Actual Start, Early Finish, Early Start, Late Finish, and Late Start.

    

• Enhanced Risk register export – The Microsoft Excel export has been improved to streamline the instructions for adding, editing, and deleting the risk register line items. Read more

  The updated export file now more closely reflects what is exported from the Schedule plan view. A color-coded key has been added in the upper left corner in the export file that shows you the required, optional, validated, and ignored records. Additional mapping tabs are also included at the bottom of the Microsoft Excel file.

  

   

• AWP updates – Schedules that are housed under the None project workspace no longer support a Project Suite project connection via the Project Suite tab in Schedule Configuration. Read more

  

  If a connection is required, you can move the schedule file to a new or existing workspace to enable this feature.

  

   

• Schedule home page - The Schedule home page has been updated with the following enhancements. Read more

  

  • Workspaces and schedules - You can now select multiple projects and schedules on the Schedule home workspaces page. Read more

  The multi-selecting feature lets you select more than one project or schedule, and then select one of the available options on the upper left toolbar, such as delete or move.

  

  • Inline field editing – You can now edit the Project/Schedule name and Schedule ID fields directly. Read more

    You can now double-click the Project/Schedule name or Schedule ID fields to make direct edits.

    

  • New Gantt chart – A Gantt chart now shows on the Schedule home page. Read more

    A Gantt chart is now incorporated in the right side of the Schedule home page. The schedule Gantt chart illustrates horizontal lines representing work over a period in relation to the time planned for the work.

    

    Changing the Schedule type values changes the colors of the horizontal lines in the Gantt chart.

    

     

• Units Percent Complete – You can now update the Units Percent Complete in Smart Planning at the activity level. Read more

  When the Recalculate Actual Units When Duration % Complete Changes toggle in Schedule Settings is changed to Off, you can now manually edit the Unit Percent Complete field in Smart Planning.

  

  Updating the Units Percent Complete at the activity level in Smart Planning also updates the actual and remaining for the associated resource assignments.

  

  You can also modify the resource assignment, which automatically recalculates and updates the Duration Percent Complete in Smart Planning.

  

   

• WBS summary activity type - The Create WBS summary activity type has been added to the Plan view in the Actions drop-down menu. Read more

• Root node created in Cost Risk – A new root node is created in Cost Risk when importing the InEight Schedule cost risk file from Estimate. Read more

• Performance enhancements to CPM (Critical Path Method) calculator and Risk simulation – Performance improvements have been made when processing CPM and running risk simulations in Schedule.

• Language change setting – You can change your language preference in My Profile. Read more

• Norwegian - Schedule is now available in the Norwegian (Bokmål) language.

• Risk tornado path rankings – The default Path state of the Activity Tornado Analysis is now updated from Combined Path to the highest rank-ordered path based on criticality percentage.

• Activity tornado analysis view – View options have been added to improve chart visibility. Read more

  In Schedule Review, the Activity Tornado Analysis chart has been updated, and new views have been added as shown below:

  • Criticality % - You can identify how often activities fall upon the critical path during Monte Carlo simulation runs. The image below shows the Criticality % view active.

    

  • Float Consumption – You can visualize hidden risk assignments due to float consumption and compare activity risk tolerance versus net impacts. The image below shows the Float Consumed and the Criticality % views active.

    

• CPM category – Improvements have been made to Schedule to better define CPM related risk drivers.

• Label change for negative risks – In Risk Register and Register Events table, negative risks have been renamed to threats throughout the application to better align with industry nomenclature.

• Impact ranges for threats and opportunities – When selecting a quantitative impact related to a register event, you can now provide ranges that span from the selected impact to the next level of impact. Read more

  

  The risk functionality then applies the range of impact to its simulation when you run a QSRA (Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis) or QCRA (Quantitative Cost Risk Analysis).

• Critical % column – In Schedule Review, you can now visualize how often activities are critical during risk simulation. This enhancement lets you quickly identify WBS and activities that are most often modeled on the critical path in simulations based not only on CPM scheduling but uncertainty and risk input to a schedule.

• New visualization of uncertainty makeup – In both Schedule Review and Cost Risk, you can now see from the project level a comprehensive view of the assignment of uncertainty and its source in an easy-to-read visualization. Read more

  In the toolbar, click the Uncertainty Assignments icon () to open a chart. You can hover over the sections to see the breakdown of the uncertainty assignments and the source where it is pulling the information from.

  

Updated 21-MAR-2022

• Hourly planning – Previously, when importing a schedule running InEight Schedule's CPM algorithm, the plan schedule was rounded to the nearest full day. In this release, the algorithm has been updated, so when you import a schedule that uses hourly increments, it can now be viewed to the minute with time stamps in the application.

  In this release with the conversion from daily to hourly calculations, existing data in production environments could change. For this reason, you can archive the previous production environment data in one of these locations:
  - North America region: https://schedulearchive-us.hds.ineight.com
  - Asia Pacific region: https://schedulearchive-aus.hds.ineight.com
  - Europe, Middle East, Africa region: https://schedulearchive-weu.hds.ineight.com
  

• Settings – New user settings have been added to Schedule that lets you choose the level of detail to show in durations. Read more

  User settings have been added where you can select the level of detail and labels that you want to see when looking at duration, date, and time fields. Click the User Settings icon to open the User Settings dialog box.

  Select the settings you want to show for duration format, duration label, and decimal places. The settings you choose are shown in the Example Duration field. You can also select a preferred date/time format.

  

  Click Save. You can open Smart Planning to see your preferences reflected in the applicable fields.

• Plan view – Date pickers, data date settings, durations, resources, and constraints now show hours in the Plan view. Read more

  In the Calendar tab (Schedule Configuration > Calendars), the color concept has been updated to show work days in white, non-work days in gray, and exceptions are indicated with a blue circle.

  Setting workday hours is more granular and can be selected in half-hour increments between the bottom or top of the hour to start and end the schedule calendars work days.

  

  The Data date and all calendar pickers in the Plan view can be set to use hourly and minute increments.

  

• Knowledge tags – Knowledge tags have been separated into two distinct categories for codes and user defined fields (UDFs). Read more

  The knowledge tags (Schedule Configuration > Knowledge Tags) have been separated into two distinct types, Codes and UDFs. This change lets you easily denote the type of tag that is needed for different scenarios and increase reporting capabilities. When codes or UDFs are assigned, they are now specific to project, activity, resource, and register events. If you want to use the same tag for different elements such as a project and activity, you must create the tag for each element.

  Existing Codes and UDFs can be imported and exported via Excel.

  

  You can use codes to create tree-structured tags as before that can be used to tag elements throughout the application. When a code is created, it adopts the value it is assigned and cannot be edited. With UDFs, you can create free-text type fields that let you uniquely tag elements, which gives you customization at the tag level.

• Assign knowledge tags – Functionality has been added to the project list that lets you view and maintain schedule level codes and UDFs. You can easily assign knowledge tags to a project from the Project list page. Read more

  At the project level, click the Actions menu ellipsis, and then select Assign knowledge tags from the list. The Assign knowledge tags dialog box opens where you can select code and UDF tags to add to the project and view existing project code knowledge tags.

• Fill down – Functionality has been added in the Plan view that lets you fill calendars, codes, UDFs, and resources at any level of the schedule structure. This new functionality replaces Assign Resources in the Actions menu. Read more

  In the Plan view Action menu, Assign Resources has been replaced by Fill down. Fill down lets you change the calendar, activity codes, or resources used at the parent level, and apply those changes to all associated child activities.

  

  In the Fill down dialog box, select the Calendar, Codes, or Resources tab to see the available options. When you choose an option, it is shown in the Selected section. Click Fill down to see the changes in the activities.

  

• Short interval planning – New functionality in the SIP view shows milestones on the timeline and in the step task chart, and a resource histogram. Read more

  In the latest enhancements to short interval planning, Schedule has introduced two major items for improved project management at a detailed level.

  SIP resource histogram

  The SIP resource histogram lets you perform resource management at a short-term plan level that gives you another level of granularity when analyzing resources.

  The SIP resource histogram shows the assigned SIP resources for the project with functionality like the Plan view resource histogram. In the SIP view, click the View options icon, and then select Resource Histogram.

  

  You can choose to view a single resource or select Stacked Histogram to show all SIP resources assigned to the specific date. You can also resize the grid and histogram areas to show more or less of the date timeline.

  

  Milestones

  Schedule milestones are now visually indicated on the SIP timeline and in the SIP activities. This provides clarity and reference to important dates when updating the short term plan on a project. When a blue milestone symbol () or a red critical milestone symbol () shows in the date timeline, you can click the icon to open a link and jump to the milestone in the step task chart.

  

  Zoom to start

  Another new function added to the SIP view lets you quickly go to the start date of an activity or step that you choose. Click the Zoom to start icon () in the activity to jump to the start date in the step task chart or the WBS.

• Toolbar icons – In the top toolbar, the Schedule Settings icon has been changed from to , and a User Settings icon () was added.

• Smart Planning calendars – Assigned calendars on activities now show non-work and exception days in the Smart Planning date selection fields and improves schedule analysis.

• Constraints – The list of activity constraints in the Plan view has been updated and adds more functionality, which include a mandatory start and mandatory finish.

• Critical activities – Functionality has been added that lets you specify activities and milestones that are critical. In the Settings dialog box, enter a value in the Critical Activities Contain Total Float Less Than or Equal To field to show critical activities in red.

• Snapshots – The Snapshot feature added new functionalities to the Plan view including the Snapshot Management menu, the Analysis view template, and Variance columns. Read more

• Snapshot Management menu – In the Plan view, the Snapshot button has replaced the Baseline button in the toolbar.

  When creating a snapshot, you have the option to set a snapshot, overwrite a snapshot, delete a snapshot, save as a new schedule, and promote to a schedule. The snapshot takes all your information from your current file and saves it to the Snapshot Management menu.

  

  The Promote option to schedule lets you take the saved information from the snapshot and push it into the project list using the name given as the snapshot. Similar functionality is used in the Save as a new schedule option.

  Overwrite a snapshot lets you save over a previous snapshot.

  After the snapshot has been created, your Gantt chart is updated with bars for the information that relates to the current schedule status and the snapshot status. The darker bars can be moved around. The lighter bars represent the snapshot. The bars are blue when the schedule is not critical and red if they are critical.

  

  The information on the snapshot cannot be edited. Only the name of the snapshot can be changed. You can also enable or disable the snapshot view on the Gantt chart.

  

• Analysis View Template – A new view template called Analysis view works alongside with the snapshots.

  This view lets you bring in new columns from SN1 Actual Finish to the additional variance columns. These columns are used in snapshots to compare information between snapshots and the current project.

  

• Variance Columns – Each variance column compares the snapshot to the current project.

  The columns show a badge depending on how the information changed. If there is a net zero change, then no badge appears. For example, the variance columns might show a green badge number if there is a decrease in duration between the snapshot and the current project. The badge numbers could also show in red if the duration increased between the snapshot and the current project. If there is no change between the snapshot and project, the number shows as 0.

  

• Project list view – You can now organize your schedules in project folders. Previously when you signed into Schedule, you saw a flat list of all projects. Read more

Project folders can now be created in the project list to better organize schedules into a project hierarchy. You can list as many schedules as needed under each project workspace. The projects can be organized alphabetically using the column header sort function. Use the options from the Action menu on folders to edit the following:

• Edit Project Workspace Name

• Move schedules

• Delete



Use the options from the Action menu on individual schedules to edit the following:

• Edit Schedule Name

• Edit Schedule ID

• Move schedule

• Copy

• Delete



You also have the option to edit the Schedule Type for each schedule. By default, the Schedule Type field is set to Estimate.

If you do not organize your schedules into specific project folders, then the schedule is placed under the None folder by default.

When you import a file into Schedule, you must include the Schedule ID, Schedule Name and a Project Workspace.

• Late Units status: incremental – You can now visualize incremental late data in the histogram. Read more

The projects late units can now be shown in the projects histogram. This gives you the latest possible spread with units that can be earned on a project and still finish the project on time.

When the Remaining Late status is selected and added to your histogram, you can see it in your left-side panel similarly to Planned, Remaining, and Actual.

When you expand your assigned activity node, you can add steps to your activity using the Add a step button. You can add as many steps as needed for your activity.



The remaining late units are shown incrementally over the selected time spread using its corresponding color. You can drill into planning packages, activities, or the whole project to plan resources.

• Late Units status: cumulative – You can now visualize cumulative late data in the histogram. Read more

With Remaining Late status selected, you can now switch the S-Curve to On from the View Options menu. An additional S-Curve is shown, matching the color of the Remaining Late columns in the histogram.



When you switch the additional Status selection of Remaining Late, a third column (or fourth column depending on if actuals are present) appears in the histogram.

You can now analyze how the early and late plans on the project react to changes over the life cycle of the project. You can also perform an in-depth analysis of resource and resource management on a project.

• Stacked histogram enhancements – You can now assign colors to individual resources for a better view while analyzing a stacked histogram. Read more

When you go to the View Options menu and turn on the stacked histogram, resources on the project are shown using color coding.



Each color-coded area of a bar represents a unique resource within the selected time period. When you hover over a specific color in a time period, a hover window with the sum of the amount of units assigned to the resource in the time period shows.

The stacked histogram reacts dynamically to your selection of resources in the resource grid. These added functions give you an additional tool for resource analysis in Schedule.

• Percent burn rate – This feature shows percentage burn rates for resources across a given timescale. Read more

To turn on percent burn rate, go to the View Options menu. Then, click the Display drop-down menu and select Burn Rate.



This feature adjusts the axis on the resource histogram to show the units as the amount of units earned, planned, remaining, or remaining late within a time period as a factor of the total project units. This lets you quickly make planning decisions early on in a project life cycle based on the capacity the project is budgeting to earn in a given period. You can also adjust mid-project to past performance by comparing actual burn rates per period to the remaining burn rates per period on a project.

• Resource allocation limit – You can now add a resource limit line to track over/under allocation on the histogram. Read more

The Resource Allocation Limit feature can be turned on in the View Options menu. When you enable the Over allocation toggle, an allocation line shows on the resource histogram.



Using a resources default units per day, an allocation limit can be established based on a selected time period. A given allocation in a time period depends on what status you have selected, as well as how you dynamically adjust the resources selected within the resource grid.

A state of over allocation is clearly called out when the bar goes above the allocation line. The portion above the line turns red to notify you that the resources selected are over allocated in the specified time period. This lets you adjust resources and possibly correct the over allocation of resources in a time period.

• Project configuration resource color assignment – This feature adds a column that shows the selected color for the project configuration resource. It also lets you adjust the resource color as needed.

• Knowledge library resource color assignment – When you import a resource from the Knowledge Library, that resource comes into the project with a color assigned to it. You can also adjust the color in the Project Configuration Resource table.

• Excel import and export function – You can now export a Microsoft Excel worksheet that provides a template to make small- or large-scale changes to your WBS, Activities, Logic, Codes, UDFs, and Resource Assignments. Read more

The Excel import and export function provides detailed data from your schedule that lets you build, report, and analyze all from a flat data source.

• Improved left side navigation – After first logging in to the Short Interval Planning view, the hierarchy is collapsed and the project summary line is the top node, followed by the WBS and activities that you are assigned to. Read more

The chevrons can be used to easily expand or collapse nodes.



When you expand your assigned activity node, you can add steps to your activity using the Add a step button. You can add as many steps as needed for your activity.



Newly added steps have the default numerical name Step 1 with the numbers increasing in incremental order. You can change the name of any step that has been added. Steps are defaulted with the start and end date of the activity. Steps are also defaulted to a duration of 5 days.



The fields for steps are all editable and can be changed by the user who has been assigned to these activities.

The start and end dates can be changed in the left grid. These changes affect the Days column as well as the sticky notes. The Days column can increase automatically by updating the start and end dates.



You can also update the number of Days and the sticky notes manually. Then, the Start date and End date automatically update.

You can now assign a Planner to a step if they have been delegated to that group or that singular set of WBS’s or activities.



• Step functionalities – New step functionality buttons have been added to Schedule. Read more

The magnifying glass is used for the jump to function. If you select the magnifying glass, you are jumped to the start of your step. The comment bubble, when selected, opens a dialog box that lets you enter comments. The comments can be viewed by all users that have been delegated to that step. The creator of the comment can also delete their comment.



If the step has a comment on it already, the icon change to:



The circular icon with the user inside represents the Resource for that step. When you select this icon, you are shown a SIP Resource dialog box that lets you add an existing resource or create a new resource. This resource is then added to the step and saved. After it is saved, that resource can then be used again and added to another step.

In this modal, you can add a new resource or select an existing one. The only required filed is the SIP Resource name. You can select to add a Unit of Measure, Units, and select a color to represent the resource.



When there is a resource added to the step, the icon changes to the following image:

In the resource modal, you can set your UoM and Units. This lets you view a resource spread. If you make any changes to days or units, you can reset your spread accordingly.



The delete icon on the right of the step functionalities, lets you delete a step. By selecting the x, you are removing this step and all data you have entered for it.

• Group by functionality – Group by functionality now defaults to the WBS functionality view. Read more

Group by Planner functionality has been updated to show the Project Node on top with the Planners indented underneath. You can select which planner node you would like to open and view.



While in this group by planner view, you can also view when users share steps on an activity with another planner. The light blue activity bar shows you when a scope of work that needs to occur before or after another user’s scope of work. You can select the light blue activity bar to view the step and planner of that step.



When you select the planner name, the step highlights in yellow. You can then view that portion of your scope overlaps. Group by Resource functions similarly to Group by planner. When this grouping is toggled on, the left grid updates to show the resources instead of the planners.



• View options functionality updates – Functionality for view options have been updated. Read more

When you toggle on the CPM Breach annotation, you now see the affected sticky notes highlighted in yellow. If you have crew colors toggled on, you can also see the color for that resource in your SIP gantt.



When you toggle on Resource collision, you can see the resource highlighted that is colliding.



• Short Interval Planning filter updates – The SIP filter has been simplified to show what is present in the Plan view. You can now filter to Activities, Resources, and Steps. Read more

The Activity filter type lets you filter by delegated to, ID, Start, or Finish.



The Resource filter type lets you filter by Name or Units.



The step filter type lets you filter by Planner, CPM Breach, Comments, Start, Finish, and Days.



• Renaming Execute to Short Interval Planning – When you want to navigate to the Short Interval Planning page, the selection of Execute has been removed from the primary navigation drop-down menu in the Plan view. Execute has been renamed to Short Interval Planning. Only users who have the Permissions for Scheduler or higher might notice this change. Any other user who has been assigned Short Interval Planner permissions is not affected by this change.

• SIP Resources – In the Project Configuration page, the tab SIP Resources lets you view this page view, add, and edit SIP resources that are used in Short Interval Planning if you have permission. Updating or deleting a SIP resource affects the steps the resources are assigned.

• Signal R – You can now see other active users working in the Short Interval Planning view. When you click on the one active user drop-down list, the name of the additional active user shows. While you work in the SIP view, if another user makes a change or an update, the Refresh SIP data button starts to pulse. You must select Refresh SIP data to refresh your view and stay updated with the most current data.

• SIP sticky note functionality – You can now move a single sticky note using the drag and drop function or a group of sticky notes when holding down the left mouse button. You can now add sticky notes by pressing the plus sign that is shown when you hover over an open day. You can also delete sticky notes by selecting the x that appears in the upper right corner of a sticky note when you hover over it.

• Short Interval Planning export – When you export your SIP schedule, the current views, filters, and annotations are also exported. You can also see all the nodes expanded in the export.

• Common navigation – The common navigation used across all InEight cloud platform applications has been enhanced for ease of use.  For more details, refer to InEight Platform release notes.

• Resources – There is now a distinction between the project resource list and the global resource list in Schedule. Read more

Global resources that are in the Knowledge Library can now be copied into the project and maintained as a separate, project-specific hierarchy.

Hierarchical resources have been added into Schedule. Hierarchical resources let you group and analyze resources more efficiently. Hierarchical resources also improve the XER import and export between Schedule and Primavera.

• Common navigation – The top bar navigation has been updated to be more consistent with the other cloud platform products. Read more

The top navigation now contains a hamburger menu, home icon, and linkable breadcrumbs for the page. You can also select up to ten projects as favorites.



• Percent Complete types – You can choose different Percent Complete types at the activity level. Read more

The Percent Complete section is located under Smart Planning. You can assign the following to Percent Complete:

• Duration

• Physical

• Unit Percent Complete



• Summary activity and risk tornado – The Tornado Analysis shows key drivers that are responsible for the largest contribution to a risk model. The Tornado Analysis is now available at a summary WBS level.

• Multiple mitigation assignments – You can now assign multiple mitigation strategies to mitigated or unmitigated risks throughout the registers in the project. You can also add risk status, owner, and due date to the risk. Read more

You can now add a mitigation to mitigated and unmitigated risks from the Events register, Project register, and Project register events. From those registers, you can adjust the probability of occurrence, duration impact, and cost impacts for each mitigation. You can also assign an owner and due date.



Any mitigation can be deleted by selecting the red trash can icon in the Delete column. For example, if you have more than one mitigation and you delete the preferred mitigation, the next mitigation becomes the preferred mitigation by default.

The preferred method selector lets Schedule know which mitigation method to run in risk modeling. If the status of the risk is set to Unmitigated in the register, the preferred mitigation inherits the values from the risk’s values. If you change the status to Mitigated in the register, the risk updates with the values you set in the mitigation.



You can also close the risk event. If you close the risk event, the event becomes dimmed but keeps the original risk values for historical reference.

• Cost risk feature – This feature rounds out the total project risk management solution, bringing together cost and schedule risk analysis for an integrated project assessment. Read more

Risks not only affect the schedule but also the cost of a project. The cost risk process let you reduce added costs by calculating cost risks.

You can assign risks to both the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and the Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) by importing either structure into Schedule. You can select to CBS using these three import options:

• InEight Schedule

  • This import is compatible with the Microsoft Excel template in Schedule. You can download the template using the Schedule export option.

    

• InEight Estimate

  • This import is compatible with the Excel export from Estimate.

• Schedule WBS

  • This option imports the current WBS structure in plain view as the default CBS structure.

Then, you can assign uncertainty and risk events before running a risk simulation.

• Review view – Changes to Review let you run risk simulations with more in-depth visibility. You can also select multiple P-Value markers to identify areas of greater risk exposure. Read more

Up to three simulation outcomes can be shown by selecting up to 3 P-Value outcomes.



After the P(X) values are selected, select the green Run Simulation button. The Run Simulation button color changes from green to grey after the simulation is complete. If data adjustments have been made, the button reverts to green indicating that the simulation can be run again.

You can select the number of iterations for the simulation. You can also select whether register events occur during a given simulation.



You can now view the P(X) version of the schedule based on an aggregate of Schedule simulations. The schedule is annotated with data from the previous simulation. Annotations show the Deterministic Start/Finish bar and the P(X) Start/Finish bar making it easier to view the spread of possibilities.



• Risk register enhancements – Enhancements have been added to the Project and Knowledge Library registers. These enhancements help you to better track, manage, and mine register events. Read more

Enhancements to the register let you track risks and opportunities more accurately. You can configure and assign tags for better organization. Assigning tags also let you see smart suggestions that help you create report risk events using improved reports.

The Events register includes organization specific tags like Red Flags, Risk Type, and Risk Category.



The Group register lets you organize risks by category. The group name shows the number of risks assigned if multiple risks are labeled with the same group name.



You can drag and drop columns in the same view.



The Risk register lists every risk including risks that are identified multiple times on projects.



• Schedule critique enhancements – In these enhancements, a Schedule assistant is always on, letting you confirm that your schedule is structurally sound and ready for analysis. Read more

With these enhancements, you can now check that the schedule is technically sound and ready for analysis.

Schedule critique is a set of common metrics that help identify the soundness of a schedule. The eight new critique annotation and filters help show that the schedule is free from areas that inhibit a solid analysis. This includes items such as Hard Constraints, Logic Complexity, Bottlenecks, and Negative Float.



The Schedule critique annotations and filters are as follows:

• Missing Predecessor (): the activity does not have any predecessor logic links and is not at the start of the project.

• Missing Successor (): the activity does not have any successor logic links and is not at the end of the project.

• Negative Float (): total float is less than zero.

• Lead or Lag (): predecessor and/or successor logic links contain lag.

• Insufficient Detail (): the activity spans more than 10% of the overall project duration.

• Logic Complexity (): the activity has 3 or more predecessor logic links and 3 or more successor logic links.

• Incoming Bottleneck (): the activity has 3 or more predecessor logic links.

• Hard Constraint (): the activity uses a Must Start On/Must Finish On constraint.
