This video gives you an overview of the cost item details in InEight Control.

To edit or view the cost and other details of a cost item, right click on a cost item, and select cost item details.

Cost item details are organized into tabs. Details, attributes, cost categories, current estimate resources, and forecast resources.

The details tab contains general information for the cost item, including the description, quantity, man hours, and estimated costs.

The attributes tab allows you to label the cost item with tags, for reporting and filtering purposes.

On the cost categories tab, You can break your cost down into more detailed cost categories such as labor, equipment, and materials by total, or by unit.

Note, that you can view your live forecasted costs at a cost category level as well.

From here, you can select what forecast method to use for your forecasted values.

On the current estimate resources tab, you can add and manage the estimate labor, equipment and material resources for the cost item.

Click here to view each resource segment.

Here, you can see resources have already been added.

The quantity column indicates how many of that resource will be on the job.

The work hours for each resource comes from the cost items productivity.

Each resource has a unit cost of factors with its work hours to give you a total cost.

If using resources on the cost item, You will want to make sure your cost source is set to detail to reflect the total cost of your resources.

Each resource has a cost driver.

For example, Labor resources are duration driven by default, meaning their costs are driven by the duration of the cost item.

To enter work hours manually for a resource, instead of having them automatically calculate based on the cost items man hours, You can change the cost driver to either a c I quantity or fixed.

With c I quantity selected, you can adjust the workouts manually where previously it was read only.

The forecast quantity is very significant when it comes to quantity driven resources.

It determines how the cost is driven and what affects the cost of that specific line item.

The Productivity section has two different areas.

The remaining area, which shows how many remaining work hours there are and the total area, which shows the total amount of work hours our added.

Here, you can adjust the cost items for productivity and it will update the work hours of your duration driven resources accordingly.

Let's change the man hours of the cost item.

A yellow side arrow indicates what value was last entered or adjusted.

Note, how the work hours of your resources have changed.

An orange triangle appears on some of your items.

This is called an orphan indicator It indicates that a change was made to the resources value that deviates from its value in the library.

On the forecast resources tab, you can select detailed ETC to forecast the remaining work for your cost item.

You can then make adjustments to your resources and productivity to update your estimate to completion as needed.
