Video - InEight Control - Cost Item Management
TRANSCRIPT
Welcome to InEight Control.
This video demonstrates how to manage cost items in InEight Control.
The workspaces page is where you manage and track progress of the cost items
that make up the cost breakdown structure of your project.
On the CBS tab, you can create, edit,
and delete cost items as needed.
Each row in the CBS represents a work activity or task and
is called a cost item.
The CBS position outlines the hierarchy of your superior and subordinate
cost items.
From the context menu of the task data block,
you can turn on color coding to indicate CBS level.
You can also turn on color coding to indicate which cost items are terminal.
Terminal items,
have no cost item below them and contain the cost details of the project.
Collapse and expand cost items by clicking on the arrow next to the items CBS
position number.
Click here to open the CBS tree slide out panel to help you
navigate your cost items.
You can expand individual cost items by clicking here,
or you can click expand all.
You can isolate a cost item by selecting it and clicking apply.
The page filters to just the cost items selected and its subordinates.
You can select and show more than one cost item.
The page will now only display two cost items selected and its subordinates.
To add a new cost item,
you can either right click on a cost item and select new cost item or new
subordinate cost item,
or click on the add button and select the type of cost item to add.
Adding a new cost item or add a new level one cost item to your
project's cost breakdown structure. For now,
we'll select a new subordinate cost item.
Here we select inherit data from the parent cost item, and click yes.
This adds a new subordinate cost item and opens the cost item details
slide out panel.
Here the description field needs to be updated.
The unit of measure field and forecast quantity field should also be updated.
After updating the forecast quantity field,
you are prompted to adjust your CE unit cost or CE final cost
because of the quantity change. Select the appropriate option,
then click OK.
Note that when you select a cost item,
you can edit or delete your item here,
or by right clicking on the cost item and selecting delete cost item or
cost item details to edit.
Perhaps you want your new cost item to be the first subordinate.
You can move a cost item by right clicking on the cost item and selecting
adjust CBS position,
select the new cost item, then drag and drop it to its new position.
You can see the icon indicating your new cost items will become a subordinate to
the main cost item. If you move the cursor down a little,
the icon changes to three equal bars and a black line,
which indicates it'll be inserted at the same level in the structure.
Then click save.
Your new cost item is now adjusted to be the first subordinate.
Well, that's a quick overview of how to manage cost items in InEight oCntrol.
Thanks for watching.
