Welcome to InEight Control.
Creating a custom forecast method by configuring your own calculations allows
for greater flexibility in forecasting. As an admin,
you can set up custom forecasts in organization settings.
Navigate to the forecast tab
and select add custom forecast method.
You can enter up to 10 unique forecast methods.
Let's create a new one. Enter your forecast method name.
In the forecast total cost and forecast total man hours fields,
paste or type the custom formulas you want to use.
For your calculations you can use the following icons.
When typing equations you can use the reference icon to select
values to include in your equation.
If the calculation is not entered correctly, you receive an error message.
Some common error messages include parenthesis not closed.
An equation must have correct placement of parenthesis.
Another common error message is cannot end an equation with an operator.
All calculation icons called operators need to be placed correctly in the
calculation. Click next.
On step two, enable cost items.
Select if you want your custom method available on cost items that have allow
as built set for all or cost or just quantities.
A message will pop up to confirm the settings were saved successfully.
You can add or delete custom forecast methods at the organization level,
depending on permissions set by an administrator.
With our custom forecast set up, let's jump into a project.
In the c b s let's select the custom forecast method for a cost
item by double clicking in the forecast method field and selecting the
custom forecast method created in the org level settings.
This updates the forecast total cost and forecast total man hours
based on the custom forecast calculations.
As an admin, you can also set up custom forecasts at the project level.
Projects can set up their own calculations to define what the forecast total
cost and man hours will be.
Navigate to the project settings in inEight control
and edit or adjust the custom forecast method calculations using the
same steps we previously defined in this tutorial.
As a reminder,
you can enable forecast methods based on allow as-built selections
for cost items at the terminal or non terminal level.
That covers custom forecast methods.
Be sure to check out our other forecasting videos. Thanks for watching.
