Video - InEight Control - Data Blocks
TRANSCRIPT
On the Control Workspaces page.
Columns are grouped together into sets of data called data blocks.
For example,
the task details Data block contains columns that provide detailed information
about the tasks or cost items in your project.
The forecast data block includes just columns related to forecasting your cost
items.
Note the data blocks contain panels to scroll through all the columns of the
data block.
You can move data blocks on the page by dragging and dropping the data block
header.
Some data blocks contain special characteristics and function. For example,
the forecast data block contains a special menu for managing forecasts.
The actual data block allows you to specify a date range for the data it
displays.
You can add or create data blocks by clicking the add data block icon,
causing the ad data block slide out panel to appear.
From here, you can add standard data blocks or cost category data blocks.
Cost category data blocks organize key project information by cost category.
To add a data block, just drag and drop it onto the page.
Note that the data block appears after your existing data blocks on the right
side of the page.
You can then move it wherever you need to create a custom data block.
Click on the Create Custom data blocks link.
You may need a data block that filters by date range making the actual data
block a good choice. Select the general data block,
then enter a title for the custom data block. Then click Next.
You can view the columns available to choose from, either alphabetically,
organized into categories or by the columns most recently selected for
other custom data blocks you may have created.
You can also search for columns by their title.
You can select the columns for your data block in one of three ways by dragging
and dropping the column into the data block by double clicking on the column
title or by selecting the column and clicking the arrow.
When finished, click Save.
Your Custom Data Block now displays on the slide down panel ready for use.
Like other data blocks, just drag your new custom data block onto the page.
Here we get an error indicating that only five data blocks can be on the page at
one time. To remove a data block, click on the Data Block context menu
and select Remove Data Block.
Then Click. Okay. You can now add the custom data block.
To edit a data block, select Choose Columns from the Data Blocks Context menu.
You can also add additional columns as needed.
Note that the data block indicates you have unsaved changes.
Click here to save changes to the data block.
