Welcome to InEight Control. In this video, we'll walk through how to calculate the percent complete in inEight control for cost items that get their quantities from schedule of value items claimed in InEight contract or InEight plan. With integration settings enabled when a schedule of value item is created in InEight contract, you can either claim quantities against it right there in InEight contract or claim quantities against it as a contract component in InEight plan, but also update the corresponding cost items quantity in InEight control. To allow cost items to calculate percent complete from InEight contract items, an administrator will need to turn on the appropriate settings by navigating to the project tracking tab in InEight control settings.
Under the actuals header, you'll see a toggle button that's labeled update percent complete from contract when the update percent complete from contract setting is turned on. The percent complete will update from the schedule of values in InEight contract. Directly underneath that setting is a dropdown list where you can select what type of cost to use for calculating the cost items percent complete. Let's take a look at how this works by first looking at the schedule of values in contract, the dollar amount associated to this line item is 1000 and as associated with a specific W B S code, so far we have not claimed any quantities against this schedule of value item And in control.
For the corresponding cost item, we're showing 0% complete and the estimated cost is also 1000. Let's say a portion of the schedule of value work has been completed in this case to claim quantities for the work completed will go into InEight plan and edit the contract component. In the claiming window, we'll either click on the box to claim the whole component, or in this case, we'll change the install quantity to claim just a percentage of it. After clicking save, which claims it in InEight plan, we can see the percent complete for the component.
This will update the schedule of value item in InEight contract with the percent complete as well to update the corresponding cost items percent complete. Let's return to InEight control. From the C B S tab, select actions sync get quantities. Job to date, since we used a posting date of today, the corresponding cost item is now updated with a percent complete.
Based on the quantities claimed coming directly from InEight Plan. This percent complete is backed into the cost item by taking the cost claim so far for the schedule of value item and calculating what percentage that is of the corresponding cost items cost. On the actual history tab, we can see the updated total quantity claim against this particular cost item. Well, that covers how to calculate percent complete in InEight control for cost items that receive claim quantities from contract schedule of value items.
