A woman wearing personal protective equipment uses a cell phone and laptop at a construction site
Use Case

The superintendent communicates the schedule impact of the issue to the project controls manager, so she can consider additional costs for management and supplies due to the additional time on site.

Based on the schedule impact determined in InEight Schedule, there may be the need to add dependent cost items to the issue in InEight Change to account for additional overhead.

Add/Update Dependent Costs in InEight Change

Dependent cost items are used to calculate percentage-based items like insurance and overhead. They can be configured in project-level settings or added manually.  If you are adding costs based on additional time on site, you will likely need to add or update dependent cost items manually.

Follow the steps below to add a dependent cost item based on schedule changes:

Step 1

In InEight Change, open the appropriate Issue and click on the Pricing tab.

Step 2

Click the Add dependent cost item icon.

Step 3

Select Add manual dependent cost item.

Step 4

Enter the dependent cost item information.  The cost percentage will be calculated based on the WBS item you select.  When finished, click Add to selected dependent cost items.

Step 5

Click Add.  The dependent cost item is added as a line on the Pricing tab.

Step 6

Click Save to update the pricing.

You can make changes to a dependent cost item that you created manually.  Select the cost item and click the Edit icon if any updates are required.
